They serve you with big ass pieces of sushi compared to the other places I’ve ate at , chikurin doesn’t seem to hold back on their sushi. However I do have a problem with their wasabi … It’s not spicy at all, you have to almost dump the whole piece of wasbi in the soy sauce. But overall awesome place.11 Dec, 2009This is one of my personal favorites. I’ve ate at most of the sushi joints around my neighborhood
Great Food + Price + Service = Perfection. At first glance, Chikurin may look like just your average cheap sushi place. The decor is nothing fancy and the location is a pretty quiet residential area. HOWEVER, once you try their sushi (stay in or take out), I bet it’ll become your local favorite, the one you’ll return to again and again.FOOD: Entrees are good. Sushi is delicious and comes is a WIDE variety, and is surprisingly well priced (many great rolls @ 2.50!). Miso soup is good too, pretty standard.ATMOSPHERE: Friendly waiters and a charming wall painting make up for a lack of fancy decor.GOOD FOR: casual dates, dining with kids, eating with the whole family, take out on nights when you don’t want to cook or when you have friends overBOTTOM LINE: I eat here a few times a month and there’s always something new to try. I’ve tried out almost all of the other sushi places on Sheepshead Bay, and this one is the only one I return to.
