    The traditional Jewish deli food has an interesting twist, but is very flavorful, and not the humongous sandwiches you find at Katz or other traditional delis. The place is very cramped, however, with limited seating. Want to try their Jewish Chinese Christmas dinner one of these years – hopefully, next.

    Upon my arrival in Brooklyn, I hustled over to Mile End Delicatessen for lunch. Why the rush, you ask? When my favorite butcher, Rob Levitt of The Butcher and Larder in Chicago, found out I was Brooklyn bound, he told me I HAD to eat at Mile End. NO EXCUSES. I take my butcher very seriously. Thus, my lunch plans were made for me. Believe me, Mile End, a Montreal Jewish deli, did not disappoint. My new pal Vittles Vamp, a Brooklyn based food blogger I met on Twitter, agreed to join me and to share her food. At Mile End, sharing is a must because absolutely everything makes your mouth water. I wanted to try it all. From poutine to housemade pickles to Brussels sprouts salad, we loved every bite. But the star of the show here is the smoked meat (cmon, it was recommended by a butcher!): cured and smoked beef brisket so tender it falls apart if you so much as look at it. Order the Smoked Meat Deluxe: delicious sandwich with a side of slaw, pickles and frites or poutine. You will thank me later.{This review was originally published on February 10th, 2014}

    Being from montreal, this place made me feel at home. The smoke meat burger is amazing, the delicate balance between ther sauce and the smoke meat patty, and the pickles….amazing. And the bun is nice and moist….the slaw was also nice and tangy. Awesome joint if you want a taste from montreal.

    Feh. Came from NJ. Very limited menu. Smoked beef sandwich was very small (meat was tasty). $21 for a sandwich with small fries, a smidgeon of cole slaw and a pickle seems quite high.

    Friendly service, good food. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the chef prep everything — plus the place is so small that the servers are always within easy reach. Our guy was really friendly.Be warned – there aren’t really any veg options here at all. Thankfully I’m not strict, so went for a frank and beans — both were tasty, as was the pickle plate we started with.I’d definitely return.

    Excellent matzo ball soup. Smoked meat is very good , the best around,but a bit fatty.
