Grew up in the Niagara area and had the good fortune to visit this bar in 1964 when they opened and introduced the world to what are now commonly called buffalo chicken wings. This is something of an iconic site that should be considered a foodie Mecca. We visited this week as we were in the area and I hadn’t been to the bar for over 30 years. There are many other items on the menu besides wings that caters to everyone. Try the delicious chicken wing soup, order the wings but stay away from the suicide unless you have a strong constitution and a lot of liquid. Can be pricey considering our dollar. A double order of 20 wings cost us $30.00. With appetizers, side dishes, drinks, desert, dollar exchange and tip put us at about $100.00. No regrets. Worth the trip if you are in the area. A foodie must.

Definitely worth a trip just for the interior decor. License plates, statues, police badges, pendants and more frame the walls and every inch of space! I ordered mild wings and spaghetti and meatballs-weird combo but it was one of those days- and it was pretty good. I’ve had better wings but just because they were the creators of Buffalo Chicken wings doesn’t mean they did them the best!

Visiting buffalo automatically meant visiting this iconic restaurant. If you think you can handle spicy, you are in for a roller coaster ride son. Known as the birthplace of buffalo chicken wings,it was kinda obvious that we had to order for the ‘suicidal’ wings (yes, that’s the most apt name which could given to a dish on the face of the earth). So the wings have been divided into 3 categories, according to their hotness level, suicidal being the ultimate one. We ordered for 10 pieces, instead of 50 (I still thank god for that decision) because the waitress had already scared us enough :p. But we still wanted to give it a try #indians #howspicycanitbeanyway, and oh my god, those wings tasted like someone had stuffed a full carton of red chillies into my throat. Imagine a small piece of chicken, swimming in a bottle of sriracha sauce. Yes, its exactly that. But its once in a lifetime experience,so don’t miss it out :). We did try some drinks, which included a couple of beers, wine and long island ice tea, and some other dishes, but I don’t remember how any of them tasted, thanks to the buffalo wings. A must visit if you want to prank your friends :p

I visited theAnchor Bar on Sunday with my girlfriend. As a chicken wing enthusiast,it made perfect sense toplan a weekend trip to Buffalo. I had been to the Anchor Bar before – many years ago – and I was happy to return. My gf had never been. She ordered a single order of mild wings ($13usd) with a rum and coke. She was very pleased with her meal. I decided on a single order of the suicide wings ($14usd) and I couldn’t be more pleasedwith that decision. The wings were crispy but not overcooked. They were drenched in an excellent blend of fire and flavour. The suicide sauce had a nice dark colour to it and the results were sweaty! So good. So so good.

They were the best Buffalo wings I ever had. The kids had spaghetti and meatballs while hubby and I had a double (20 pieces) medium order. We did not dare order their Suicidal sauce. After all, I wanted to enjoy my wings, not burn my mouth. Our order came in a heaping platter with celery and bleu cheese. I couldnt wait to dig in! Hubby prefers the drumette and I like the middle flat. He can be my wing man, anytime! (Sorry, I had to put that in–even at the risk of revealing the era Im from, haha.) The skin was crispy, the meat was tender and juicy and the sauce was absolutely great! These wings were certainly worth driving to Buffalo for! wanderlustingmama.blogspot.com

Excellent! The original buffalo wing. I had the hot barbecue. I wanted to lick the plate.. But didn’t. Lol! You won’t be sorry ordering anything off the menu but you have to have the wings. Cooked perfectly, crispy and delicious
