Cozy chic atmosphere, lovely food and friendly service. I ordered the Smores dessert which was wonderful and different, as well as a refreshing arugula salad to start and the Half chicken for my entree. Delicious!
NICE SPOT. We were a table of eight. We enjoyed our dinner, service was good and the atmosphere was perfect–lively but not loud. With drinks, dinner, tax & tip it came to about $85/couple.We’ve been here for dinner a few times & lunch outside on the sidewalk–each time it was a good experience.
Disappointment. My boyfriend and I had come here once before for restaurant week and enjoyed ourselves, but I remembered saying it wouldn’t be worth the normal prices. However, about 6 months later we decided to go back for a 2nd round since we enjoyed it the first time. Unfortunately, this time neither of us enjoyed our appetizer or main dish. As an app, we went simple with bread and spreads. The bread served was fine(nothing special), but the dips really lacked any flavor. Then it came to our main dishes. I got Handkerchief Pasta: hand made pasta, butternut squash puree, spinach, wild mushrooms, shaved parmaggiano-reggiano. There was no flavor except big flat pieces of pasta, pungent mushrooms and musty spinach. I couldn’t taste any butternut squash or spices like nutmeg (which I had been happily told there is a strong presence of). I love mushrooms and spinach, but it has to be done right. Real disappointment. My bf had the flank stake, which was overcooked and tough, although he asked for rare medium… The only saving grace was that the services was good and the ambiance was nice. Maybe we just didn’t pick the right food (I believe the first time we chose seafood dishes), but they are too pricey for the quality to give it a 3rd shot.
I’d rather eat cereal.. Well, I’ve had worse meals. This is my second time at Craving, my first being back in the fall when I was very impressed with their selection of taps. Last night however was a totally different story. They were down to two taps, served me wine that the bartender admitted had been uncorked for 3 days already, and they were out of nearly half of the menu items. Still, we ordered the charcuterie ($17) and the fettuccine with pesto/clams/mussels ($27). The charcuterie was insanely small, burnt and dry focaccia, and served with nothing to spread. The meat tasted good but, I swear the dish wasn’t worth $5 let alone $17. I couldn’t help but compare it to the charcuterie I had the night before at Bistro Europa which cost $12 and was SO MUCH bigger and better than Craving. As for the fettuccine – some of the clams didn’t even open! The ones that did were tiny and needed to be rinsed more. The mussels were ok. The pasta was made in house which I appreciated. But it was all stuck together and was basically a big clump. Altogether, the meal was entirely underwhelming. And I still can’t believe how much they charged!!! I’m curious to see how long they manage to stay open. Needless to say I will not be returning.
Very Good. The food here was great! Will definitely be back18 Sep, 2013Yum. Delicious! I had the scallops for an appetizer and it was sooooo good. I then had the pork belly small plate….just as great. Highly recommend!!!
Let down. I was very excited to stop by and try this place out. It took me a while and when I finally did I was really let down. I had the vegetable and pasta soup which was pretty bland, sweet potato fries w/ truffle honey and they were decent, and also a margherita pizza which I can only describe as WET! (I don’t know if that makes sense but it was if they poured water on it.) GROSS! I will not be going back.
It was just okay I won’t like or dislike it!
