Everything was great. The service, food, the atmosphere was all on point. I wish I could spend the night here. I’m in love. Yes yes yes everybody come here it’s a home away from home.
The Right Amount of Heat. Was there for lunch with friends. Two orders of BBQ chicken came out differently. One was nice and moist the other very dry. I was wondering if one was an earlier mistake and was put on the side for a later order. Other friend had the ribs which were done to perfection with just the right amount of sauce, but she complained that the side of mac and cheese was just bland. I made out the best ordering the Jerk Fish. It was done just the way I like fish to be, moist and not overcooked. The fish was presented well with a side of yellow rice and cornbread and had a nice bit of heat to it. Downed every morsel. The restaurant itself is very small, seven or eight barstool seats at the counter, three tables outside. We were lucky that it was a nice day otherwise we would of passed and gone elsewhere since all the seats were filled inside. The fish was outstanding and would go back for that. And it is BYOB.
No Beverages available? really?. Hard to evaluate the food on a hot day when no beverage are available. C’mon. Hard to have confidence in a place that doesn’t understand something a 6 year old playing restaurant would get. Get a couple cases of water at least. Could be a neat cozy nook. But having to walk to 7 eleven for a beverage makes no sense.
A cozy space with Southern & Caribbean aromas. The food is delicious. Chief Clyde kept the conversation going while he prepared our feast. The honey hush cornbread & fresh made mac & chease is worth the trip by itself.
Jerk fish & rice was great!
Best Food on the West Side.. My boyfriend and I are always on the look out for new places to try. We noticed that what was an old taco hut on Grant between Auburn and Lafayette went through quite a transformation. We came up to the front thinking it was still a take out place… not the case. This was the greatest surprise. Freddy and the others were SO kind. They treated everyone like family and made the whole experience wonderful. We had the Sunday brunch but opted out of the usual three course version because we definitely weren’t prepared. We did however take advtange of the bottomless mimosas. Our entree was fried fish with grits and cornbread. The grits were out of this world. The perfect consistancy plus diced bacon and cheese on the side. The cornbread was so sweet and a perfect compliment to the perfectly seasoned (and cooked) fish.We will be back at least every Sunday. This is a place you just HAVE to try. Be sure to call ahead and make a reservation because seating is very limited!
