Birthday Dinner. This used to be my absolute favorite place to have a girls dinner night. My birthday was about a month away so I called and made reservations- there was a total of 8 of us. They said that would be absolutely fine! Well the week of the dinner I called again to double check that we were still on. Everything was running smoothly. Then the day came. We show up for our dinner only 7 came- 1 was sick- they charged us $35 .00 for the ill person. They were quite late to seat us 25 minutes to be exact. Good was not worth the price. And I’ve never said that! When the bill came they put it all on one check and refused to break it apart. This place put a damper on my night. No customer service, you’re food isn’t the best anymore so stop acting so snobby
Highly recommended!!. Omg amazing! ! I’ve never been there before. I got a peach martini. .. excellent. Shrimp fritter app, I don’t like seafood but it was bomb. Then I got the rib bye steak 18oz… to die for and my bf got salmon which he was drooling over. Staff was great too. Definitely highly recommended and I’ll be going back…soon!!
Terrible Experience! Rude Hostess!. I reserved a dinner for 8 with Mother’s after calling around several other places and not being able to get in. When I made the reservation I was told that they needed a credit card to reserve a table for parties over 5 people and that the number needed to be guaranteed or I would be charged $20 per person! Feeling like I had no other option I agreed to this. 2 people from our group cancelled last minute so I decided to go in at 7:30 for our 8:00 pm reservation to speak with the hostess and let her know and then wait at the bar for my group. She was very short with me and obviously annoyed. I told her I understood the policy but we were going to have a full dinner for 6 people and anything she could do would be appreciated. She again was less than pleased. Luckily at the end of the night they did not charge me as we spent over $200.00 but that policy is ridiculous to begin with. The worst part was that after we sat down, ordered our drinks, and were looking at the menu, one of our group was running late. It was about 8:15 when the hostess came over to our table and told us that she heard we were not ordering yet but recommended that we hurry up and order soon as we only have the table until 10 when another group is coming in and she needs this table back. We had not been sitting for hours ordering nothing so her saying this was a total shock. And the restaurant was far from packed. I have never had a hostess come to a table with a large group of people who are obviously going to spend money come over 15 minutes into dinner and tell them to hurry up. Needless to say we were all very uncomfortable. The waiter was nice and we ordered as soon as he came back. The food was nothing special. At 9:30 we asked for the check as soon as possible since we had been told we need to leave and the waiter advised us that the hostess was able to reassign that large table so we could stay as long as we want – um no thank you! I do not want to spend another penny here and I never will!
Terrible experience. Everything we ordered was boring and bland. The service was absolutely horrible. We ordered an expensive bottle of red wine and the waiter got cork in it when he opened it. When I commented on the debris in my glass he said nothing and just poured more wine in my glass. Our waiter was miserable and the food was so disappointing. We will never go back to Mothers. With so many delicious places to eat in Buffalo, don’t waste your time and money at this overrated restaurant.
Bad meal. I had a fish, mushroom, and risotto dish, fish had bones in it, mushrooms were like biting into cartilage, waitress was fair at best and asked to have another drink after we had paid bill, if ok with them, so that we weren’t taking a table they needed and it took so long to take our order that we just went to the bar. Not impressed, won’t be back.
Rude hostess. I frequent Mother’s and has had great experiences. This time however the hostess was very rude, cold and uninviting. We understood that there wouldn’t be any seating available at the time but we overheard her telling two people before is that there wouldn’t be anything available until 8pm (a half an hour away) and offered them free cocktails. But with us, she was very callus and told us nothing would be available until 10pm and walked away! The food is great but I was very disappointed to say the least.
Nice!. I’ve been going to Mother’s on/off for years, including during the days prior to the beautiful renovations and pool table in the back! I love the great wine selection, ambience, and look forward to dinners outside. I just love being on Virginia Place, as it always gives me that New Orleans feel.
