Had reservations for 4 at 6:45, and we arrived about 10 minutes earlier. Didn’t get seated until 7:30 and dinner was not served until 8:30. The waitress never asked my wife(our designated driver)if she wanted more water or anything else to during after the initial glass was gone! The food was good, but felt the wait staff was overwhelmed, which made Osteria 166 very underwhelming for us.

I love this place. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious. Great wine selection too. The owner Nick really knows how to take care of his customers.

Had a nice casual dinner with a cocktail at the bar while traveling in downtown Buffalo. Ordered the special soft shell crab over arugula(see photo) with a side of stuffed peppers. Also, enjoyed a perfect Martini. Service was great, glad I stopped in.

TERRIBLE. Absolutely terrible. Awful service. Unpleasant greeting when we arrived. The food wasn’t worth it. It’s an upgraded pizza place Go anywhere but here!

Great downtown treat. Located near the centre of downtown, Osteria would appeal to any taste or appetite. Tonight ours happened to be one course only, with a couple of glasses of wine. For the latter, there are many reasonably selections by the glass, and we opted for a Primitivo/Zin and Chardonnay,…wound up lingering post meal over the remains of the second glasses. Pre-meal bread is served in a sensible and practical lunch bag, which I guess helps to keep the bread from drying out too fast. This comes with a generous dose of finely grated parmesand, pepper, and olive oil which quickly morphs to a nice thick dipping sauce. The chef’s choice for tonight’s Zin drinker was a gorgeous breaded veal chop, with spaghetti and an arugula salad. Super tasty and tender. The other main was linguine with clams, which were a dozen or so perfectly cooked little necks in a peppery oil sauce. Portion sizes were perfect – it was a meal that did not require appetizers or desserts, but was just right for a cold windy night. There are two entrances to the restaurant. The one on Franklin goes through the bar, and can be a bit congested and noisy. Jeez, it’s a bar! Go around the corner and there’s an entrance directly to the dining room. Either route is welcoming as are all aspects of Osteria.

I loved the food. I hated the service. This place is caught between a nice restaurant and a pizza joint. The food is amazing, they have a great chef but the front end is terrible. The decor terrible! If you want high end pricing, which the food quality deserves, you need to act high end. This place has the food but doesn’t have the full package
