Drinks are fantastic and the bartenders are great! You can tell they all love what they do and care about you having a good time and enjoying your beverage.
Small but cozy restaurant, great pizza !. Love this restaurant, they have great margarita pizza and caprese pizza ! Small sitting area, but cozy and friendly. Definetely became one of my favorites.
Amazing coctails. Looking for Great cocktails? .. Enough said.
Prohibition Cocktails. Small dark restaurant on Lexington in the Elmwood Village. Dark windows, limited signage and a door that sticks gives Vera the edge it wants to portray. When you walk inside it is like you are transported back to the 1920s. Bartenders in vests and suspenders making fancy cocktails with fancy bar moves and garnishes. All cocktails are $10 but they do offer wine, beer and other drinks. Two of my favorites, the New Yorker and the blood orange margarita are not currently on the menu but they can make you anything that was once previously on there. Restaurant has small plates, shared plates and pizzas. I usually get a few pizzas and appetizers to split. I like to get the classic Margherita pizza because it is made with San Marzano tomatoes and fresh basil. I also like the goat cheese arancini and the Caprese salad. See if you can get the pizza a little undercooked. The crust seems to be burnt far more often than not. Bar and food menu changes seasonally.
Close, but fails to hit the mark.. Taking a page from a vast number of Prohibition Era style bars found in NYC, Vera has managed to succeed in providing drinks using catchy names, top shelf liquor, and bartenders who know how to entertain and impress with their shaking and pouring. However, they fail in many ways to be on par with their big city counterparts. The drinks, while admittedly cheaper than what they will cost you in Manhattan or Brooklyn (think anywhere from $15-$20 per drink), are also much weaker. Vera is also easy to spot and premise of these places is that they are difficult to find-often no signage out front, no windows you can look into, and often you must be buzzed in or make it past a door man. The food, while adequate, fails to provide many options for vegetarians and vegans. The restricted menu discourages those of us who aren’t meatcentric to return very many times.
No thank you….. I cannot understand the positive reviews of this place so felt compelled to write. I have been here twice now and will not go back. The food is less than mediocre and the staff definitely has some attitude. For drinks only, it might be ok but I’ll spend my money elsewhere.
I must say this place is amazing, I have traveled all over the world but when I come home I make sure I stop at Vera’s. the drinks are crazy good, throw out some things like citrus, bourbon and sweet and they will make you something of your dreams. Also we can all agree buffalo has wonderful pizza, but this is on a separate scale, Vera’s is the only place I make sure I come to
