Great food. Real nice people. Cheap prices. No atmosphere at all. It’s about the food here. Cruddy neighborhood, but the food is soooooo good and big portions. I think they do a major take out business, but we eat there in often. Nothing fancy as far as tables and chairs.
Lots of changes – for the worse :(. Pho Mekong, which used to be more authentically Vietnamese, is now more homogenized American-Chinese. My family and I used to go here all the time; after moving back to Utica last week after a two-year absence, we tried Pho Mekong again today expecting the same delicious food we remembered. Everything, however, has changed. The menu LOOKS the same, but the dish preparation was completely, noticeably different. My husband and I love the bun cha (V40), and every single element of the dish was altered. It was such a huge disappointment. I know we’ll never go back, even though it makes me sad to say it.
Great Summer Rolls & Pho. My wife and I stopped here for a late lunch while on vacation. The food here is the attraction. The restaurant is converted from an old gas station. The Summer Rolls were excellent and served with a peanut sauce. The bowl of Pho that I had was good and filling. The prices were inexpensive.
AMAZING PHO!. A friend recommended the place to me. It’s located in what seems like a deserted part of Utica. From the outside, the place is nondescript. Inside, the furnishings are typical of Southeast Asian eatery, pared down, unfussy. The place was spotless and orderly. The waiters were prompt and attentive. Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of the restaurant. The food TOOK MY BREATH AWAY! I mean WOW. I had pho number N11 – phenomenal! Stock was freakin tasty, all herbs were fresh (could not believe it had an entire bunch of fresh mint, mungbean sprouts, chopped cilantro, chili, lime), the noodles cooked al dente, and the beef was soft, as if stewed for 6-8 hours. You know the pho is good when everyone is too busy slurping the soup to talk. I will definitely go back! Don’t overthink it, just go and order the pho!
Awesome Place, Awesome Price!. I love Pho’s. I’m so glad I discovered it. The food is always fresh and sooooo good! There is no atmosphere and the place looks like nothing much on the outside, BUT the food is so worth it!The peanut sauce that comes with their spring rolls is to die for! I could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Every dish I’ve ever tried has been fantastic. You always get served with hot tea when you come in. The tea is so fragrant it relaxes you right away.I’ve recently tried their vegetarian eggplant dish, and it took my taste buds to a whole new level. I didn’t think it was possible for eggplant to taste this good!Another favorite of mine is the seafood Pad Thai. It’s sprinkled with crushed nuts and served with one of the best sauces I’ve ever tried. Usually other places serve Pad Thai with fish sauce, which tastes nasty and fishy, but this sauce is neither. It’s so delicate and sweet. I would love to know their recipe for the sauce.I could rave about this place for hours, but why don’t you check it out for yourself. You won’t be sorry!
Best lil hidden secret in utica. Love this place!Pho stock is amazing. Better than in NYC.They make some wonderful dishes with a small variety of very authentic ingredients. Get the Pho with what you want the first visit, don’t wuss out and get some stir fried sillyness. You could make that at home, but you’ll never re-create a good pho stock. My current favorite place.-A
Excellent food, family run business. Very welcoming.
