Closed Permanently?. On Friday, 21 Nov 2014, I was in Albany for a conference. Prior to leaving the hotel, I went to the website and took the number. When the sessions ended. we went to a light display in Washington Park. When we reached the end, we phoned, expecting to order takeout to pick up and take back to the hotel. The phone went to a voice mail message, whose target audience seemed to be people who phoned outside normal business hours, a which directing me to press one number for reservations and another for the manager . We rechecked the website, and it was listed as open. I phoned the Times Square restaurant, the only other store in New York, and was told it had closed. I understand that places close, but was upset that the corporate people seem unaware that people actually want to eat in their restaurants and might actually go to the website to obtain information. We drive by it, on our way to another restaurant in the area. All the lights were on, but the parking lot was empty and the blinds were down. Other than NYC, the nearest one to us is Reading, PA, and we have always liked the food we’ve obtained from there. We loved the ones in Ohio, and miss them now that we have moved. I was just upset that I had taken the time to obtain all inf before we left for the day, and the restaurant was closed. One would think that the corporate people could remove it from the website, and change the message to one telling callers the restaurant is closed.

Where Can You Eat in Albany?. We noticed downtown catered to very low end bar types or high end fine dining. We were travelling through and had the children with us. They wanted pasta. We drove out to the suburbs and thought about going to the Cheesecake Factory because we knew what to expect, but decided to try Bucca di Beppo. We were informed of the family style concept, ordered Large Garlic Bread, Large Caesar Salad and Large Spaghetti with Meatballs with an extra Meatball. The pasta was over cooked, but I like the large baseball style meatballs. We ordered way too much, particularly the Caesar Salad. The food was just okay, and we would likely either not stop in Albany again, or try harder to find a better place to eat. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Manager RUDE on Xmas eve!. I was looking for a place for dinner on Christmas Eve and relied on OpenTable’s list of restaurants advertised to be open tonight. I made a reservation at Buca at about 8pm for 8:30. I then left my hotel room in Troy to travel to the restaurant. Upon arriving at the restaurant, the door was locked. I knocked and waved to the man inside. He saw me but ignored me. A diner came out of the restaurant so I was able to gain entry. I walked up to the manager (the man who ignored me) who was now behind the window to the kitchen and explained that I had an 8:30 reservation. He said the restaurant closed at 8pm and that he had already emailed me to cancel the reservation. I did not receive this email because I was driving to the restaurant. I asked him why I was able to make the reservation if they closed at 8, and he said that their hours are different today. I asked him if we can still be seated and he said no, they are closed. I left without so much as an apology from the manager or a suggestion of other places that might be open. I am very upset that I was able to make this reservation which was cancelled by the manager within a few minutes of me making it. Why was I able to even make the reservation, off a list of restaurants open on Christmas Eve no less? He couldn’t call to be sure we knew not to come? The customer service upon arrival was shameful, especially considering it is Christmas Eve. Luckily I was able to find a Chinese restaurant open down the street so we didn’t have to go without dinner. NEVER going back to this Buca!

Real Italian. We had a great time looking at the pictures listening to the music and enjoying the food. Big portions and a fun place. Staff was great

Huge portions, fun decor. A few friends and my fiance took our mom’s here on mothers day for dinner. The service was friendly and attentive, the food was good solid italian fare. The meatballs were really tasty and the size of baseballs and the marinara was nice and simple with just the right amount of basil and garlic. I use marinara sauce to judge an italian restaurant, because if you can’t master the basics,I figure why try the more complicated dishes. We were not rushed between courses, which is important to me. It was very crowded and very noisy, great for families, little kids were running around all over. I would go there again but definitely not out on a romantic evening.

I have had better!. Six of us went to Buco di Beppo one night and we were surprised. The food was flavorful but the portions were small. We left very underwhelmed I went to Augies in Ballston Spa and that was a different story, Delicious food and plenty and the more the merrier.

Well……. This used to be a fantastic place. but the last couple of trips have caused me to decide to give up on it. first the portions have gone down quite a bit. don’t base your dinner party on their portions. i ordered a large veal saltimboca, i received 5 small pieces of veal. that is supposed to feed 6. a large lasagna is about 1/3 of a 9 X 13 pan again, that serves 6. the price for those two things was $64. it is not a carmines. I complained and was sent a gift card. i tried again, this time pizza. all I can say is with the gift card it was only $19 for the two pizza’s, and that is about all they were worth. definitely not worth the $44 it would have been. Sorry Buca, you lost my families business.
