4 Generations of my family eat here!. I had the lasagna tonight and many nights and it is well done, plenty of meat, cheese, sauce and flavorful seasoning! My mother (92) loves Ken’s rice pudding, one of my daughters, loves the buffalo strips, my grandson loves the spaghetti and meatballs. This is a great place to dine with family and friends, very tasty, never disappointed! Oh yeah, if you really want a treat, try the ribs!!!
This place sucks. Your drinks are watered down, the food is all frozen/precooked and store bought. For those of you who think that the chili tastes just like Hormel (the one you buy in a can).. You would be correct! If he ever specials New England clam chowder.. Expect to find a case of progresso soup in his kitchen. There is nothing home cooked about that place. It’s a joke.

It’s always fresh and delicious and is presented nicely and comes out on time!!!The owner Ken and his staff are friendly, down-to-earth and genuine. They take the time to make sure you have everything you need and they do so with a smile. It’s a warm, inviting atmosphere – an atmosphere where you want to return time and time again.Tonight, we tried Southside’s new Sangria! Wow! It was fresh, fruity and delicious! We are definitely going back soon for more sangria & homemade food!We highly recommend Southside Cafe in Poughkeepsie!It’s a wonderful place to relax and have a nice, delicious meal!
Great place!!. My husband and I eat here at least once a week, because it is a comfortable, friendly place with great service and great food at reasonable prices. What more could you want in a restaurant?
Whether you live here or are just passing through, you MUST stop in for some amazing home-style cooking!!. My Mom and I have been coming here once a week since we discovered it a couple of months ago.Don’t let the location fool you. Once you step through the door, you are transported to your very own outdoor dining experience complete with trees, strands of white lights, and plenty of ambiance (and without pesky mosquitoes and smelly citronella candles!). The staff is friendly and attentive. But let’s get right to it. Let’s talk food. I can sum up every visit with one word: Thanksgiving. You know when you have a family get-together and everyone brings their own signature dish that everybody can’t wait to dive in to? Well, that’s how amazing their food is. Everything is homemade and soooo delicious! It’s just like Thanksgiving and they are just like your family.
Art. Looking for GOOD food, at a GREAT price? Try the South Side Cafe on Rt. 9 in Poughkeepsie. The staff is friendly and right on top of your needs. The menu selection is varied, and prices are amazingly fair. South Side has platters or full dinners, soups sandwiches, etc, depending on how hungry you are. They also have a great burger with fresh ground beef, that beats the competition. When you walk in, you are greeted by one of the staff, or the owner, and are promptly seated at a private table separated from the others by white lattice. The background music ranges from 40’s and 50’s, to some 60’s rock n roll. The owner (Kenny) is always checking to assure everything is to your satisfaction, and is willing (and able) to modify most selections to meet your requests. You are made to feel that YOU are important to everyone at this restaurant, and it makes you want to return. Forget the big chain joints all along Rt. 9. If you want good food, fair prices, and friendly faces, this is the place.
