I heard good things about this restaurant so I stopped by with a friend. They didn’t have some of the items we wanted, so we made alternate choices. When we ordered there was no one ahead of us, yet we waited close to a half hour for our food. In addition, I later discovered that the counter girl misinformed us regarding what was and wasn’t available.I wrote to the restaurant and I guess it was the owner who responded by saying they were expanding faster than expected and were experiencing growing pains.I waited about a week and decided to call my order in to avoid the long wait. I first went online to check the specials. Their site said they had Corn Chowder, When I tried to order it, the young woman informed me that they don’t make soup in the summer (even though we had been served New England Clam Chowder the week before so the actually do make soup in the summer.) After trying to order something else from the regular menu that they didn’t have I just gave up and cancelled the order.I let a month pass and went in to get an order of portobello fries. They were way, way over seasoned and inconsistently cooked. Some were burned black and some pieces look like they barely touched the oil. The garlic aioli that came with was also over salted. Overall, they were entirely inedible.Three strikes and you’re out Crooked Rooster. You seem to need a better-skilled chef and better management of your stock and communication of specials.
Food was dry. I went once with a friend and my dad; his dish which was the brined beaf was very dry; and I ordered the fish and chips the fish was over cooked; the only meal that came out right was my friends meal. The staff was friendly and the place was clean I would have recommended the place to people if only the food was good and wasn’t over priced
Disappointed. I had the Chick’n A Bag. The chicken was dry and tough. I would not recommend it to anyone.
Disappointing. Had a rice bowl – mostly rice, not many veggies, not roasted tomatoes as listed, added garlic shrimp for an additional $3.50 and received a measly 4 salad size shrimp! My husband had the chicken in a bag – jerk style. Sauce was great – very spicy, but the chicken was dry. Also, the food was VERY salty. Maybe the sandwiches are better, but not sure i’d return.
The food is excellent, the staff is friendly, and the decor is awesome. If you ever see the chili on the menu–try it! It is life-alteringly good.
