Extraordinary New American. This restaurant has everything going for it: an inventive menu that appeals to foodies as well as more traditional palates, a lovely country setting with comfortable seating, elegance and warmth and a perfect decibel level, a well-trained staff (both front and back of the house are CIA-trained), top-notch cocktails that you would only expect to find in NYC, and a lovely, well-chosen wine list. Plus during the day there is a market of gourmet food to take home and cook as well as yummy breakfast and lunch items.Two downsides: 1) Hard to find. Best to rely on GPS since directions here can be complicated. 2) Make a reservation in advance if you can. They generally take walk-ins but since they are relatively new and off the beaten track, they sometimes are short on waitstaff on days that they normally have few customers but get an unexpected rush.
