This is the time of year to go to Rick’s… that gorgeous, two level covered veranda is wonderful!! One could wish the chairs were more forgiving but perhaps management doesn’t want too much lingering!! I was there last week with my mother-in-law (a 93-year old firecracker) who treated me to lunch after a tough morning’s shopping at Vidler’s. After just one meal – a tasty & very well presented black & blue steak salad – I would recommend visiting Rick’s but for the locale at least as much as the food. The service when we were there was on the smarmy side and my own B & B salad is more interesting than the one we were served. Still… the veranda calls and I will answer before the leaves turn.
Lunch with the girls.. The day was lovely, so we were lucky enough to sit on the patio. Our wait staff was friendly and patient. I ordered the cranberry turkey club with no bread because I am gluten free. It was delicious! Other items ordered were, the black and blue salad, and the banana pepper burger. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back.
Didn’t wow me. Had a date night with my husband here.First impressions. The hostess was not very friendly. I felt like I was imposing on her to be seated, even though we had a reservation. The waitress was only slightly friendlier, though not very attentive at all. We felt regularly abandoned. No drink refills, etc We were dressed decently, too. Then we were sat at a teeny tiny (two person only) table with uncomfortable chairs (and we are pretty small people in fact). We were between two other tables and could hear every word of their conversation. We were just soooo CLOSE!The salads were very good. I had the chopped. Bread basket not great. My husband said his steak was fine, but my seafood was entirely forgettable. We spent well over $100 and we did not even drink that night. The food was not at all bad. But honestly, for the price, you can go down the street to some place like the Bar Bill which also has good food. And with all the money you save, you can afford to go out to another decent restaurant the next night, too.
