Stopped here on a whim with my wife and oldest daughter on a Friday night. We were all incredibly impressed, this was our first experience with Dannys South, our first with either Dannys in many years. The service was amazing, our waitress was fantastic and friendly and accommodating. My wife had the fish fry, its easily one of the best in Buffalo. My daughter had the cheeseburger, she loved it, though to be fair she quickly became obsessed with their fries, which were perfectly prepared and delicious. I tried their gorgonzola burger, it came topped with mushrooms, caramelized onions, and a generous amount of gorgonzola, and it was amazing. I was the only one to add the soup/salad bar to my order, and Im glad I did. I tried their famous chicken wing soup as well as their steak and potato soup, both of them were awesome, and their salad selection paralleled their soup selection, complete with freshly baked bread and garlic bread sticks. The best part was the pricing, they are easily 20% less expensive than other, less delectable local options. Ive read a few negative reviews on here, and I cant argue if they had poor experiences, but all I can say is that we will definitely be back, hopefully many times. Try it out.
Never again. Went there for the first time for dinner tonight. Terrible. Food was not good. There were 4 of us and we all ordered something different. A steak house, it is not! What a disappointment. I didn’t like the chicken wing soup either. I’ve had much better. And the salad bar was blah although the honey basil dressing was good. We should have known when we walked in at 5 p.m. and were the only ones in the restaurant. So many other choices for decent food around. We won’t be going back.
Took a chance and was rewarded. Had never been to Dannys since it was salfrancos. Wanted to try someplace we hadnt been and we enjoyed it. Waitress was prompt. The menu is diverse and the atmosphere was a but stuffy but okay. I had chicken penne alfredo with the salad bar and the best assets of the bar were the fresh hot garlic breadsticks and four kinds of homemade soups. I liked the sausage dumpling soup best. My mom had the beef on weck ans aside from run of the mill boring fries the beef was as good as other local beef. Prices were good as well We will be back again
Horrible owners, rude to staff in front of customers & fighting with each other in front of staff & customers.
Chicken Wing Soup Only. I have been here a few times and nothing really stands out to me. The soup and salad bar might be the highlight since they feature many toppings for salad along with their famous Buffalo Chicken Wing soup. Add to any meal for an extra $3.99 or get it on your own. French fries were soggy and cold. Nachos were luke warm and the cheese was hard. Mozzarella sticks were decent. Beef on weck is ok. Prices are a little high. Services seems to be slow and never around when it comes to getting the check and paying. Understandable during a Bills game but on an off night not sure why? Decent size restaurant with a bar area in the back.
SW corner /Ralph Wilson Stadium. (The old Sal Francos) Crazy place on gameday Sundays, tailgaters special parking/food deal. Otherwise, a restaurant with a big soup/salad bar maintained well of late. Eat-in sports bar area shows major sporting events sometimes with the sound on too! Has a formal dining room and a medium catering space too. A regular who knows 4 waitresses by name and they know mine…. most entrees include the soup/salad bar or you can add to an appetizer for $3 or so. Somewhat famous for their chicken wing soup, a slightly sour hearty Buffalo kind of soup. try a little at first, can always go back for more… Three other soups usually available too, at least one is vegetarian usually. Salad bar is quite big for nowadays, best part, try the fresh warm italian sticks at the center portion of the salad bar. Most dishes are good here, American. I have my favorites The Ralph Wilson, a tuna melt, lol, I load it with onions from the salad bar and am in heaven… There is a Dannys on Genesee, the original, but this one has better fish dishes and is not packed (waiting line) with seniors either.
Lunch not bad.. This bar caters to the tailgating crows of the Buffalo Bills football team that’s located across the street. It’s a fast food resturant. Good fast sandwiches and a buffet style lunch salad bar.
