Danny’s was always my husbands favorite spot, and under unfortunately for me I had never tied… Well he finally talked me into to it, and let me say, I’m so upset for not making it here sooner! From the soups on their salad bar, to their perfectly cooked succulent steaks, to their homemade dessert, it was a grey experience. They may need to remodel a little, since their decor was a little out dated, but honestly, once I put the first bite in my mouth, I didn’t notice anything (not even my husbands constant ‘i told you so’s’) haha I loved this place and will absolutely be back!
Pretty good example of a once great restaurant that has slipped past the point where I will go again.I’ve come to realize that the mobile site will not let me ‘rate’ this restaurant bit as far as atmosphere its in the negatives. The older clientele must keep this place afloat because the mildew smell will keep most people, with their senses still intact, far away.Sure they have fun soup… So does my local grocery store. As far as the menu, it was great in the 90s but its still the same tired bland food. This place needs to wake up before its an abandoned structure.
Hated the experience and the food. I am a water drinker and I realized 20 minutes in that I would need to ration my consumption as the waitress was not going to return to fill my 4oz water glass as often as assured me she would. I asked for a larger glass or a pitcher. I was told that this was not possible as the OWNER did not allow water to be given in any other glasses. the waitress made three revealing statements. when the manager was requested the waitress stated she is too busy. the waitress stated yes it is a stupid rule but the OWNER refuses to change it (which the owners daughter the manager confirmed)’ and the waitress stated the OWNER does not care that customers complain. all I could think is THEY WILL NEVER RECEIVE ANOTHER PENNY FROM MYSELF OR MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY. And the Buffal growing soup tasted rancid.
A Mothers Day Disaster!!! This had to be one of the most disappointing Mothers Days I have ever experienced. As usual, we decided to dine out. BIG letdown. We decided to go to Dannys on Genesee St., we hadnt been there for years. Well, problem #1 limited menu. This means if you order something not specifically listed on the special menu, you pay the price of the least expensive item amount on that special menu. I tell you this because I guess this is common practice. Oh and by the way, dont inform the customer of this policy in any way shape or form. Dannys special menu had nothing we were interested in as far as an entre is concerned, so my husband and I ordered the soup and salad bar only. This is a regular menu item that goes for about $7.00. Now remember, there is a special menu for Mothers Day. Because of this special menu the soup and salad bar cost us $14.00 each. Yes, please feel free to rip me off just because you decide because we ordered off the special menu, you are well within your rights to charge us double the regular price. BUT!! To make matters worse there were two other people in our party that ordered off the special menu and each of their dinners were less than our soup and salad bar AND they got that same soup and salad bar included with their dinner. I can guarantee that we will never set foot in Dannys Restaurant again and I would advise you to be extremely careful if you do!! Pricing policies like that do NOT bring in repeat business!!
First off, I would like to say this is one of my favorite restaurants (mainly because it reminds me of my best friend ‘danny’) who was a childhood friend I had growing up. This place Is just your average place with good food good service and a nice bar. However what makes an average restaurant great you ask? The answere is simple..it has to have that special oomph!!! And boy let me tell you it has that wow factor! Now your on your toes just wondering what it is..one word..CROUTON. Yea I’m serious. Pure divine-god sent. If I could only pick one food to have on a deserted island for the rest of my life..you guessed it bring on those delicious croutons! Bam!
AMAZING. I eat at Danny’s very often and I have to say I have NEVER had a bad meal there in all the years I have been going. The waitresses always have a smile on their face and the bartenders are always friendly and quick to serve me my drinks. Not to mention how amazing their chicken wing soup is (as well as all of the other ones) I would highly recommend this cozy restaurant to anyone!!
Lousy Service. Our first time at Danny’s tonight – we have no desire for a second trip. The restaurant was moderately busy and we had to wait over the 20 minutes we were told. Once we were seated, the server was extremely slow. We then noticed someone talking with the owner. She was being very nice about her complaints, but we could see he was not caring. He eventuallly waved his arm at her to go with a sneer! She then said she now can see why everyone says that he is so rude, another woman went up to her (I assume his daughter) and starts yelling at her and then the woman bartender went over, took her arm and lead her out! We were appalled by this, the woman was truly being tactful in her complaint. So right away I had a bad taste for the place. The salad and soup bar was nice, but my main reason for even wanting to try the place, their chicken wing soup, was only ok at best. I had it at the taste of buffalo and it was 100% better there. I ordered chopped steak well done and my husband ordered a steak, medium. When the meal finally arrived, my chopped steak was a formed burger patti and my husbands steak was well done, not a smidge of pink to be seen. We were there 2 hours for diner food.
