Il Fiorentino. Now we all have had mediocre food at overpriced restaurants, but I wonder if anyone has experienced as horrific experience as my girlfriends were subjected to last Saturday. Two of our group, which all are professional, dignified woman, were asked by our hostress/waitress how was our dinners, we didn’t know what was in for us as two stated the scallops were overcooked, salty and idedible. The chef came out and SCREAMED at one of the ladies and denied her initial request to change to an appetizer. The wo who complained ate nothing, the others couldn’t eat with any appetiate left. What was to follow is that none of us could eat, all shaken and what was to be a pleasant experience was followed by the chef locking the door (briefly) and calling authorities on us. Now we are all fair, law abiding citizens, paid for what we ate and wanted to get out of there because we we all frightened, the evening was almost ruined. He wouldn’t accept to take meals off check, continued to rant and we spoke our piece with authorities, but after a wait. We all support local resturants, and have our fair share of quality dining experiences, but even now one of the group won’t eat callops again, nor have any desire to go out to eat any time soon.

I saw what happened to these ladies. Unbelievable unprofessionalism…I will never eat here again, I was going to step in but he retreated to the kitchen. Our food was mediocre too and WAY overpriced. Can open a can of Campbells soup and get the same quality for considerably less. We had just finished so we walked out. Will never return and will tell everyone we know what we saw. Atrocious behavior. I cannot recommend this place and will not.

Worst restaurant in the country. The worst dining experience and meal I have ever had.Chef actually was screaming at us in the dining room that we had sent back inedible food-he was abusive, it was shocking, never have been treated so badly, Can’t believe this place is even open.

Amazing Food!. Last night( 9/30/11) My Mother, Father, Husband and I had an amazing dinner at Il Fiorentino. It is a very small place (reservations recommended) which lends to its charm! The atmosphere was warm and intimate… and the host/ waitress who was the chef’s wife made us feel right at home. The food was just incredible. We shared four appetizers, all were amazing! The highlight of the Ravioli di Spinaci Alle Noci e Gorgonzola (spinach ravioli with gorgonzola cream sauce) was the light cream sauce with walnuts. The Lumache e Tortellini in Brodo (snails and tortellini in chicken broth) and the Tripe in tomato sauce were both so tender they tasted as if they were braised until they just melt in you mouth. The absolute highlight of the appetizer dishes was the Risotto Al Nero di Seppia (squid ink risotto) which I read on the menu online and could not wait to try. My father admitted to being a bit afraid of this dish but tried it and loved it! The black color of this dish may seem off putting to some but wow, it was creamy, a bit nutty and had a slight citrusy sweetness to it. For the main course I enjoyed the scallops in tomato cream sauce which had a nice light touch of heat to it. My husband loved his rack of lamb which were served as individual chops, perfectly seasoned and grilled to medium rare. My mother loved her veal marsala which had a cream based marsala sauce and we all enjoyed my Father’s choice, the gnocchi. It had a similar gorgonzola cream sauce as the spinach ravioli appetizer and the gnocchi were light and delicious. It was an amazing meal and I can not wait to go back. On our way out the chef popped out of the kitchen and we were able to tell him how much we enjoyed the meal as well chat with him about how he made that wonderful squid ink risotto!

Highly recommend. Live very close by and never noticed this restaurant. The dining room is small a converted old house with only a few tables but the menu is excellent and the food compares with any of the high end restaurants in the city for a fraction of the price. Service was great. Already planning our next trip. Definitely recommend trying . Call first it only seems open on the weekend.
