Joey B’s is well, Joey B’s. No money is spent on any niceties at all. You couldn’t sell the silverware they use at a garage sale. Plastic chairs? Seriously? But the food is OK, certainly not fabulous but its not and expensive place either. The menu needed an updating in 1994 but the food is OK. Just Ok. Joey, please offer another veggie other than the same julienned stuff that you’ve been serving for literally decades! Tonight, we ordered a bottle of Chardonnay and it wasn’t cold. Good thing this is not a very expensive place because then I would have to give it a negative review.

I completely forgot to mention how unbelievable our service was. We couldn’t have asked for better waitresses! Everyone was friendly and went above and beyond our expectations.08 May, 2013The atmosphere was good. There’s a nice view of the canal. The outside deck is a place to be in the summer, very relaxing. The Caesar salad was excellent, ahi tuna was cooked to perfection. My daughter had mushroom soup, salad and sea scallops… She loved all of it. My wife had the salad and the rack of lamb was superb. Overall our experience was very pleasant and we had great food. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Food is OK, but the owner is a complete jerk. Server was nice so we survived the night. For some reason no bar, and wine list terrible.

Negative Reviews?. I hate writing a review, in fact this is my first. I have eaten at Joey’s probably 100+ times since he opened in ’92. And why is that? I travel on business for a living, eating out all over the country 3-5 days per week on somebody elses money. When I get home, my wife needs a break and we go out one weekend night. Why do we to Joey’s’? 1- Joe and Amy (owners)are there, all the time.Every dish that leaves the kitchen is assured, to be of the highest quality.2- The menu. Sure it has stayed the same for ever with a few seasonal specialties added. I love this factor. I KNOW when I get there what my mouth is wanting. I have known for 2 decades that regardless what I order I will be totally satisfied.3- You get what you pay for and part of what I WANT to pay for is the guarantee that there are no surprises. Never have been. 4-Regard for fresh ingredients and cleanliness. I’ve been in the the food prep area and it is spotless. Now for the nimrods that have written negative reviews on this and other sites. You are small time diners who either don’t have a life, don’t experience a wonderful dining experience very often, can’t find a date or a mate and resort to bringing your mother out to dinner or have as one idiot wrote, just fallen off the turnip truck. (REALLY, old brie?)Keep going to the chains, splurge on the early bird specials or just wait for your mom to make you a grilled cheese sandwich. I for one, won’t miss you.

I’ve been going to Joey B’s for 15 years and can not understand the bad reviews. The food is superb. Service is excellent. Wait staff are personable and knowledgable. The rack of lamb is the best in rochester for the quality and quantity!

Not what I expected!. Sunday, 9/23/12 visit @ 5:30 p.m. Walked in – the place was very cold. Sat down and there was a gnat flying around our table. The friendly waitress greeted us with her sniffling runny nose – clearly she was ill. We ordered the baked Brie – when it arrived, it looked beautiful – but it was unpleasantly bitter. When we questioned the waitress she didn’t appear rattled, she simply explained that it was that specific type of Brie – basically she’s telling us that it’s normal. Yeah, OK, we just fell off a turnip truck. Google it, and you will find that bitter brie is in fact OVER RIPE brie. The next course was onion soup – it was OK, very salty though. Next course was the salad, no complaints with mine. Entree course was next, and I had ordered the chicken and shrimp Dijon. It came with shredded zucchini, rice and the chicken and shrimp in a creamy Dijon sauce. I ate the shrimp right up, but took one bite of the chicken and had to dispose of it discreetly in my napkin. This was due to the fact that it was so tough, I couldn’t chew it. I can’t remember ever having to do that before in my life.
