I visited Diwan Restaurant during one of my recent visits to New York and one of my friends insisted us on visiting this place. So, this was a good enough place where we visited during lunch hours. Ambiance is pretty average but there buffet is really large. They serve plenty of of items for both vegetarians and non vegetarians. For starters there was papdi chat, samosa, pakodas, gol gappe, tandoori chicken and fish pakoda. I liked tandoori chicken and fish pakoda. Tandoori chicken had a beautiful color on it and the blend of spices was good. For main course there was a long list of items starting from kadi, chole, aloo palak, matar paneer, butter chicken, goat gravy and few more which I am not able to recall now. There was steamed rice and Chicken biryani as well, but I liked butter chicken, it had a wonderful orange color to it and gravy was just delicious We all liked the food, but my friend said that more or less there menu is same. Other items were just average and service was also not too good. If one wants to try Indian food and is pretty much hungry should visit this at least once.
More MSG than Chinatown. Prices, presentation and taste are very good. However they must put a ton of MSG in their food. My GF and I were up till 6am as if we both drank two pots of coffee each.As a consequence I must recommend that you avoid this establishment.
Nice but Noisy. This is the first time that I have been to Diwan. The food was tasty but not spicy – which we had specifically requested. The open plan environment makes for a very noisy dining experience and the service was not very good.If I went again I might try a weekday night when it might be less busy.Reasonably priced and good portions.
Went here for the lunch buffet because we figured we’d try something new from our usual place down the street. What a mistake! Food was unflavorful, very bland. The only think that was somewhat decent was their rice pudding.
I have never experienced such crappy service and management. Ordered apps that were okay but waited for over an hour for food to come. Tables on both side of me came ate and left while I was still waiting for the manager to come over who was standing ten feet away. What a deutch. After telling him how dissatisfied we were he offered free dessert and said that was all he could do. No thanks. Screw that. Will make sure nobody that I know ever considers this sewer joint. If in the hood looking for good Indian food go across the street to the house of dosas.
Good Food. I have eaten here many times. The food is good, but not the best Indian around. Worth a try, and it is a good visit since it is situated with a bunch of Indian stores.
Great food great service wonderful atmosphere… Best tandoori chicken and increable doss’s
