Another great meal!. Have enjoyed many a meal at Amici’s and never been disappointed. Always a treat and great service with the right amount of attentiveness. Tonight was no exception. Ordered the Sicilian Pasta Stack from the Specials Menu. Very creative dish of layered pasta, 4 blended cheeses, vegetables with portabella mushroom, sliced meatball stuffed with prosciutto and hardboiled egg, baked mozzarella and Napoleon sauce. Extremely tasty and satisfying and a big enough portion to savor again for lunch tomorrow. Recommend that you try this one – definitely not your Gramma’s Italian!
Disgusted and won’t return.. The last time we were there our server noticed my wife didn’t eat her meal. She asked if all was okay and my wife said she didn’t like the meal. The server cleared her plate, didn’t ask if she wanted something else and gave us the bill with the meal on it. Tonight we called and stated we wanted to do take out and had a Groupon coupon we wanted to use. We paid $20 for the coupon which would pay for $40 of food. The kid who answered the phone refused to allow us to use the coupon and said its for dine in only. Then supposedly a manager (who when I asked her name she refused to give it and stated she was just an employee) also refused to allow us to use it. I advised that nowhere on the coupon does it say its for dine in only and we should be able to use it for takeout. She again declined. It is not right to decline if it doesn’t state it especially when we paid for the coupon! They have lost our business all because of this. How do you decline to let someone use a coupon for something they paid for? Ridiculous.
Great food, great atmosphere!. I’ve gone to Amici a few times and have never been disappointed. They have a nice dining room with the tables spaced widely enough so it doesn’t feel crowded, and it’s never been too loud for conversation. Waitstaff have been respectful and attentive, and the food is AMAZING! I especially like the antipasto – an enormous serving of great Italian flavor. It’s definitely a full meal in itself, and I usually take home leftovers. The calamari appetizer is also excellent, and once I was adventuresome and ordered tripe, which was surprisingly okay. All in all, this has become one of my favorite places to eat out for a relaxing dinner.
Disgusting meal. I am one of those people who hate complaining about food and have never spoken up negatively at a restaurant. My view was always that all food is good, some is great. Tonight I had very bad food. To start, I should say that we had an expired groupon and they were very kind about honoring the price we paid for the coupon which I appreciated. I think because of that, I didn’t feel comfortable speaking up at the restaurant, but am now mad at myself for not having said something. I ordered the Sicilian Steak which was a special and was supposed to come in a wine sauce with mashed potatoes and veggies. It came out a piece of fatty steak, oddly with chewy dry shrimp and scallops, with mashed potatoes and rainbow peppers in a hot sauce. Hot sauce, seriously. Our waitress asked how the food was shortly after dropping it off but it was before I’d even had a bite and then she never came back. My husband’s meal was fine- he ordered the cheese tortellini which he shared with me after realizing how awful my meal was. When it came time to ask to wrap the food, I declined and despite still having a full plate of food, no one asked if something was wrong. I should’ve spoke up and regret that I didn’t. I definitely don’t recommend eating here.
Really Disappointed. We have been going to Amici’s for 15 years. Went the Saturday after Valentine’s day. Prices were doubled, menu was very limited. Ordered a beer, waitress brought a bottle, no glass. My wife was still eating her meal, bus boy asked if she was done. Five minutes later he returned while she was still eating and asked if she was done yet. My wife gave in and said take it. We definitely won’t be coming back.
Highly Disappointed. We decided to go to this place because it is in our neighborhood. Upon walking in we were told that because we did not have reservations, we would have to sit on the patio. It was a nice evening so I thought that was a good thing. Upon being seated on the patio, at a table which was a bit large for only two people, we were promptly greeted by our server who took our drink order and brought some bread over to the table. After returning with the drinks we ordered our meal. I ordered the clams casino for an appetizer and the Sicilian steak (cooked rare) for an entree. My girlfriend ordered the french onion soup and a penne pasta dish. The french onion soup was OK. The clams casino were about 90% bread crumbs and 10% clam. It also was served with hot sauce which I found odd for clams casino, but it tasted OK. The entrees showed up and my girlfriend thought her penne was decent. My steak did not look appetizing at all. Three extremely thin, although decent sized, pieces of steak swimming in hot sauce with peppers, onions, scallops, and shrimp scattered about. Upon cutting into the steak I could immediately tell it was medium. A steak this thin is next to impossible to cook rare and the chef should have known that and said something. The steak was also incredibly stringy and tough to chew. Filet should not have that kind of texture. The scallops and shrimp clearly had been frozen and reheated in a microwave. The potatoes showed the same as the seafood. It was highly disappointing. I had only taken four bites of the entree and couldn’t have any more of it. I informed the waitress of this. She apologized and asked if I wanted anything else, which I did not. The waitress brought the check over and I saw that they had charged me $26.99 for the entree that I had taken four bites out of and sent back. I asked her to take it off the bill and she apologized and informed me that she tried to but the owner would not let her. Whomever owns this restaurant should know that their lack of cooking ability shows quite evidently in the food that they serve. When you have a customer who is dissatisfied, you should make every attempt to please your customer. Putting your wait staff in that kind of position after serving sub-par food is not a good way to drum up repeat business. I can guarantee that we will never return to this restaurant.
Overpriced and overrated. I have been here a couple of times when I have had groupons. It is cute, but a little overpriced. The food is good, but you can find the same stuff at a better price elsewhere. Last couple of times my waitress messed up my order. I ordered a calamari pasta and was given a fried calamari appetizer. She said they were too busy to fix the order and argued that I told her I wanted the appetizer not pasta and that it was somehow my fault. We just had our orders to go and I havent been back since and dont plan on going back again.
