My favorite Indian Restaurant!!! I tried different Indian restaurant all over US but I still think this one has the best Chicken Mackhani!!! Also i love their mango lassi and garlic bread)) I’m their fan since 2004 and I’ll keep coming as long as this place still open)))
Great quality and value.. It often surprises me how quiet and under-appreciated this place seems to be, because I would consider it to be one of my favourites both in and out of the area; they make great food and offer good quality and value, which is all I really ask for from a good restaurant. It is tough to describe a good curry, as theyre so versatile, but it mostly comes down to a good flavor combination that is well balanced and not only contains a lot of flavor and/or heat, but forms a tasty and coherent dish. This is something i feel they do well. I am particularly fond of their curries, where i often opt for atleast one of their creamier dishes, such as makhani, korma, kashmiri or malai, due to their appealing richness and well-balanced flavor. Some of the dishes can be a bit similar to each other, but i think they have subtle differences that make them unique enough. Though if one fancies something different, one particularly interesting and contrasting dish is the vindaloo, which rather than being the usual tomatoey dish with potatoes, is rather distinctive and vinegary; could take you by surprise if you are not expecting it, but it is one of our most frequently ordered dishes. (I have not yet ventured into tandoori or biryani dishes, but since I have not yet ordered something that I did not enjoy at this restaurant, I doubt you could go wrong with any selection). They offer a satisfactory range of meats, all of which are well prepared, and offer their own character to the dish. The naan bread is also very good. The staff are very pleasant and welcoming even if their English isn’t perfectly fluent (but still very good). They also tend to offer complimentary lentil soup, which is an absolute favorite of mine – with its appealing balance of spices and tangy, citrus flavor. Whether you are new to Indian food, or rather familiar, I’d recommend stopping in. As is typical with such restaurants, you may request your preferred heat level, and one can always opt for a lassi jut in case, to cool things down (or get one anyway, i really enjoy them – nice and creamy).
The place is just ugly and they need to renovate it, BUT the food is excellent. My wife and I order out from here about once a month.
Really excellent food. Had a very nice dinner – the vege pokora (sp?) appetizer was outstanding, and the lamb vindaloo was great, spicy but not overpowering the other flavors. Generous serving size and very affordable. Will come here again definitely.
I like it. The interior is VERY dated and somewhat scarey. The buffet is better than when I’ve actually ordered meals.
Ugh I would never recommend a restaurant which doesn’t even serve a side with their parantha…it’s ridiculous the way they want to Charge for every single side be it yogurt or pickle or onion!!! The food wasn’t anything to rave about…seriously bring up your standard!!!
3 Years and Counting. Since I moved to Buffalo three years ago, I have been going to Star of India in Kenmore. The family that runs it is SO nice, welcoming and kind. The food is outstanding, I’ve never had a bad meal. My suggestions are the chicken makhani, any of the saag, garlic naan is a great starter, and the lamb is AMAZING. Best Indian in all of Buffalo/NF hands down.
