I have been a resident of Kenmore for several years, we love this quaint Village. Before The Jake moved to Delaware, the (pub) food was consistent. Since the move to Delaware, the staff, food and even the climate is mediocre at best.We stopped in a few times this summer and had to leave as the temp was so humid, we had a drink but couldn’t stay for a meal. When we asked why it was so warm, we were told the owner won’t allow the staff to modify the temp. We’ve been in a few times this fall and had to wait exorbitant amounts of time for food and the bar staff haven’t been very friendly. When the food did arrive, it was luke warm, the onion rings hadn’t been cooked (batter was hot, onion was still hard). So, needless to say, we will not be back.We love to support local business owners, but I fear profit margins have affected quality and service and there are far too many great places to eat in Western New York.Get it together; Auf Wiedersehen!!!
Their chicken wings are excellent. I can attest to that firsthand …… in a league with those served by Gabriel’s Gate and Gene McCarthy’s. I’ve heard nothing but good reviews about the rest of their menu. They also have an extensive list of craft beers; only problem with that is their prices. Three pints of beer in this place cost me more than my monthly phone bill. I must say that the service at The Jake is wonderful! Their table servers are among the most friendly, hard-working, attentive and professional hospitality workers that I’ve ever encountered. The dining environment is generally nice, comfortable and welcoming. The rest room was clean enough. The only other criticism that I have about The Jake is the level at which they play their sound system. Their music is way too loud; makes it difficult to talk to the person next to you. If they would turn down their stereo and reevaluate their beer prices I would patronize this otherwise fine establishment on a regular basis.
