Local farm to table menu, highest quality ingredients, innovative menu. My favorites are the ricotta gnocchi and bolognese. I am also becoming a fan of Tuesday burger night, the salted caramel milkshake is divine.
Service was good and the restaurant had a nice rustic feeling to it, and the music made for a good environment for dinner. The small menu is a plus for me since many other restaurants have large menus for no reason, with mediocre dishes. I started off with a king crab bisque that came out nice and hot, and ended with a huge New York strip steak with 2 delicious sides. The waitress took good care of me and my girlfriend refilling our drinks and giving us decent suggestions and doing a nice job explaining the menu overall. Only complaints are the seating arrangement is very crowded. We were sat next to two other people who were ridiculously loud the entire time, making it near impossible to have a conversation of our own. Also, the steak that I had ordered medium rare came out over cooked. All in all, Carmelo’s is a very nice restaurant and without a few minor complaints I would say the experience was perfect. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in Lewiston.
We went to Carmelo’s for dinner and were grewted by a nice hostess and barkeeper.. When the rest of our group arrived we were brought to our table. The corner we were sat waa rather cold and drafty. The service was very good, fast and extremely friendly. However the food came out almost cold. Not just one dish, but multiple. Besides that, their menu is way too small and the prices are outrageous for the size servings you get! Spaghetti with lobster was a mere handful of spaghetti with a few scraps of lobster tossed over it and that for $25… Very tasty, just very small as well! To top it off, one of the dishes we had ordered (crab pancakes) was out and the last one left went to someone else instead lf us. So we left the place hungry and disappointed… It is sad because it has so much potential to be a very nice restaurant.
Food is ranges in quality from A- to D+. Service is good. Kitchen is not always detail-oriented. For example tomato salad listed as including basil, came without basil. Upon questioning, the kitchen responded it was in the balsamic dressing. However no evidence either by taste or sight that basil was in it. The salad was a B++
Two word review – ridiculously good!!!
