DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. They serve dinner on a side dish. The servings are for a 7 year old, The food is bad, they overcharge you, the waiters are nasty, very slow service, even to pay it takes a long time and they’re expecting tips after the bad service. The owner is definitely robbing the consumers. They should be reported.
Amazing cheap food. It is pretty intimidating for someone who doesnt speak Spanish to try to navigate through what is there on offer and selecting the right food I wanted. The staff speak little english but they were so warm and patient to me and my girlfriend. After multiple pointing at pictures and food on the shelf, we order some soup and meat on rice. The flavour of the food is so punchy and leaves you very satisfied after the meal. I have patronised the restaurant a few times during my stay in New York and menu changes slightly everyday, which is welcoming. Soup of the day is also rotated so there is no two days with the same item. I love the soup on offer. One spoonful and you know it is boiled for a long time with a good balance of flavours and consistency. It feels like it is what a spanish grandmother would cook for her grandchildren on a sunday afternoon with lots of love.
Very Poor Service. I always find the service to be extremely poor. All the employees behave as if they are completely dazed, have just woken up, and are heavily medicated with medicines that cause extreme drowsiness and a semi-conscious altered state of reality. Every time I go to the restaurant, I spend ten minutes trying to get the attention of the employees, trying to snap them out of their trance. Once they finally become aware of my presence, they make slurred, uncomprehendable vocal sounds, as if trying to communicate. After much effort, they finally understand that I want to order something, and after much more effort, they finally begin to prepare my food. Unfortunately, the speed of their movement makes them appear as comical cartoon figures. Just imagine playing a movie on very slow motion so as to not miss certain details. You would think I am being sarcastic, but I am not: one cannot make up such fantastic stories. What is radically ironic is that the food tastes GREAT!! I’ve tried several other Hispanic food restaurants in Hamilton Heights, and theirs is the best!! It is quite a sad situation: the owner of the business can triple his profits if he completely replaces the staff with competent employees. Coming from a business background, I can clearly see this: the amount of customers that are most likely avoiding this business due to extremely slow and poor service has to be staggering.
