  Best Italian Food in Westchester!. Wow…thought I would post a review of my favorite restaurant in Westchester and all I see are poor reviews listed. I become a regular to Risotto since it opened 2 years ago. Every Friday night my husband and I come for dinner at 8pm and the place is packed, packed, packed! The food is outrageous…especially the homemade pasta dishes (butternut squash raviolis & crabmeat lasagna) and their braised meats (short ribs & osso buco). Last week we had a beet appetizer that was beautiful prepared and I also tried one of their homemade soups, which was subtle and delicious. The service is outstanding, especially since so many other restaurant service personel lack charisma, friendliness, and knowledge. I have always been treated kindly, even on the occassion that I didn’t like the wine I chose and the manager offered a much better choice that paired great with my meal. The owner is present every night we have come, greeting every person with a smile, and providing support for what I consider to be impeccable service. I have even come for business lunches on several occassions. Sometimes it is extremely busy and sometimes it is slow, but amazingly quality & service are never forgotten. I do not know why there are so many negative reviews posted, especially since the chefs came from another outstanding local restaurant…perhaps these reviewers are out of towners or maybe they just had a bad day. Hoping that more of the regulars post their reviews just to even the score! We love Risotto and hope they stay around for a long time!

  Stay away!. I went to Risotto for lunch with my wife & daughter. We were the only ones in the restaurant (it was a Monday @1:30) We thought we would have great service & food – instead it was some of the worst food & definitely the worst service I have ever had.We ordered the Fried Calamari appetizer which was poorly seasoned and undercooked. After serving me the wrong chicken dish to the only occupied table in the restaurant – I ordered Chicken Francese & instead got Chicken Marsala. When my Chicken Francese finally arrived it was sitting on a bed of the most overccoked broccoli I have ever seen – it was almost liquified & the broccoli & chicken were floating in a huge amount of lemon & garlic sauce. The side dish of ziti was overcooked & the marinara sauce had a burnt taste to it. My wife had Penne w/vodka sauce which was ok – the pasta was overcooked but the sauce was not horrible. My daughter just had chicken tenders and fries – the chicken was dry but edible.

  Big fan!!. My office had a luncheon and Risotto catered it. We had caesar salad with grilled chicken, penne vodka, an eggplant dish, and risotto. Everything was so good! I loved the way they did the caesar salad because you could tell the chicken was actually grilled and not just the normal chicken strips. And the risotto was delicious! We always have the same old dishes at these luncheons but this food was by far the best we’ve had in a long time. I even snuck some risotto home to my boyfriend. We made reservations for this coming Saturday, I’ll let you know how it turns out.

  This little place is ok but the food was horrible I went there and the owner was smiling all the time so fake the soup was so spicy and the waiter told me the chef said it’s not spicy he never ask me if I want something else. The calamari was so overcook and the bartender tryed to giveme a glass of wine that I didn’t like not going back there

  Mr Bud. Our dinner group of 3 couples chose to try the new restaurant Risotto on a Satuday night. We tried several appetizers. The calamari was rubbery and fishy smelling. The prices were reasonable but the quality of food was low and portions were small. Pub like atmosphere, no ambience. Probably won’t go back.

  What’s in a name??. Risotto is a small unassuming restaurant in Thornwood with a very nice waitstaff and very good food, my only complaint is that they really don’t have much in the way of risotto to offer. The night we were there they had 1 risotto special and then regular risotto accompanied some of the meals. I started with an excellent lemon drop martini. For an appetizer my friends and I shared the calamari, it was light and crisp, delicious. They also served us a complimentary bruscetta plate that was very good. We also split the Caprese which had the fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers and tomatoes, very nice. My entree was the shrimp and risotto which was in a white wine butter sauce and garnished with mussels. The shrimp was cooked very nicely and the flavor was wonderful. The risotto was very creamy. My one friend got the risotto of the day (which I believe had mushrooms) and she raved about it. My other friend got the swordfish (I think it may have been a special) and it was moist and tasty. We split a tartufo for dessert and they cut it up for us into slices. Overall it was a very nice experience and I will be back.

  Excellent food – nice atmosphere. Food great. Service friendly and professional. We ate outside and had a terrific time. Large tables and comfortable chairs on a patio separated from the street by a concrete wall and beautiful flowers and landscaping. No other place like it in Westchester.
