We were looking forward to going to this establishment with other friends who love the restaurant. They are frequent patrons and have some special food needs that are always taken care of. I have none of that and placed a very easy order.The service was terribly slow, so slow that the time between 1 shared fried calamari for the table and the salad took almost one and a half hours. Even the regulars in our group were shocked at the slowness.Then there was the initial beer incident, while the waiter was pouring a Corona for one in our party, it slipped and fell onto the table. The waiter said, don’t worry, took it away and 10 mins later came back with another one. It was an opened Corona, having what appeared to be the same fill in the bottle as the one that was taken away.The main courses finally arrived, one guest’s had the wrong sauce on her pasta side dish and as for me my dish was not what I had ordered. The waiter apologized, and came back with what was missing from mine. The missing calamari fra diablo was not only raw, it was in a marinara sauce instead. The server said is was fra diablo, in spite of all at the table who saw it and tasted it agreeing that it wasn’t. Finally the waiter said he’d replace it again for a third time. It was already so late, so it was declined.We, including the regulars with us, all had long conversations regarding our unhappiness with the entire experience and our disappointment. The check came, and there was no adjustment for the main course that was wrong. This would have been the correct way to handle the problem, but it wasn’t.We all left quite unhappy.My wife and I as long time residents in this community will never go back, nor recommend this restaurant.Summary: Very badly done by a local establishment to one of their own!
Tutti a tavola e mangiare!. Just in case you havent heard, Modern Restaurant & Lounge is in town! City of New Rochelle, that is. Not that they ever left. The former Modern Restaurant & Pizzeria has been a fixture of New Rochelle for 25 years. Having moved from its former humble joint a few blocks from their current place on Huguenot Street, the new restaurant features a nice spacious bar and banquet room for special events as well as a comfortable lounge. Open only a few months, the place is already streaming with patrons. Theres a reason for this: the foodfrom its mouth watering brick oven pizza to pasta to the assorted old Italian favorites like Eggplant Parmigiana, Rolatini, Sorrentina, etc., and even seafoodis truly worth writing home about. The fresh and moderately priced cuisine, the attentive staff and the general atmosphere in this family-style restaurantwhether dining alone, as a couple or with familyonly adds to the fun. The credit for all this of course goes to the owners, Sebatian Aliberti and Anthony Russo, the genial and unassuming duo that often circulates around the room chitchatting with patrons and, no doubt, making sure their old customers such as yours truly, stay, while attracting new ones. My familys favorites when it comes to pizza are the Sandra Special, Bella Rocco and Margherita, although anyone with an eclectic palate will find all of the others worth their buck. As people who try to watch what we eat, my husband and I like that Modern is not heavy-handed when it comes to salt. This is especially true about their thin-crust pizzas. So, if you havent popped into this amazing joint already, put it on your bucket list. Salute!

Decent Italian Food. Good place to go to eat with the family that has decent Italian food at reasonable prices. Staff is friendly also so every time that I go there I generally have a good experience. Would deff recommend!
Foods ok … I think its a little expensive but they are always crowded & they also deliver if you just feel like dining in 😉
Roasted Red Pepper Ravioli!!!!!!. THE BEST ravioli I have ever had – trust me, order it…and their cannoli are amazing
