This was a great find! Tuna wrap and the pasta along with it were very good. Side of onion rings hit the spot. Wife says turkey panini good but Caesar salad was weak. I’ll be back.

It was just okay, the eggs were overdone, the potatoes were burnt, and the service people weren’t very cordial.

Small town jewel!. Just far enough off the beaten path to preserve its small-town humility (but easy to get to from 9W) lies this jewel of a cafe in Cornwall, NY, serving up an unpretentious but fun breakfast and lunch menu to come back for again and again. The atmosphere is small-town funky, and it’s easy to spot the regulars, who are happy to be there, and happy to make out-of-towners feel welcome, too, which is NOT always the case in places like this! (Caveat: as long as the out-of-towners don’t complain about the chef Pat or any of his staff, who it seems, they would defend to the death). The regular menu holds delicious mainstays such as their Breakfast Burrito, Strawberry Fields Forever (the most amazing combination of french toast, strawberries, and cream cheese that you will ever get outside of), The Humongous Fungus (a delicious grilled portobello sandwich served with sweet potato fries), and more standard breakfast/lunch fare, but the daily menus are the star of the show. Chalked up on wall boards and sometimes also lovingly handwritten on sheets of construction paper by one of the chef’s charming daughters, this ever-changing parade takes advantage of seasonal fresh ingredients and new inventions by the staff to delight the palate. Like their mischievous Peter Pan-like chef (although he actually looks a fair amount like Johnny Depp), this place will NEVER grow old.The wait staff seem to typically be local college students who are knowledgable on a wide range of topics, and if you are looking for pointers about where to go hiking, paddling, etc., they are happy to give their opinion here. It’s also easy to get involved in discussions with other diners, many of whom seem to be here to load up on healthy fare just before or just after some fun excursion into the outdoors — and not just hippies and yokels here; plenty of clean-cut West Pointers from up the road as well as sleek metro-dwellers who have escaped the city and know a good thing when they hear about it; a great cross-section to hang with and blend into. The food is amazingly delicious, fresh, and healthy without being overbearing about it. Large portions guarantee you won’t leave hungry, and they are absolutely willing to work with customers with special needs. Also: if you think you don’t prefer things like home fries or pasta salad, this may be the place that converts you. It did me. The chef has a magic touch, I swear.A few tips: seating is first come, so arrive before the local churchgoers on Sunday or be prepared to wait (the wait is worth it). Outdoor seating is also available, and is dog- and stroller-friendly. Cream is available for the coffee instead of milk if you know to ask (and they have good coffee!). If you are looking for fast food, save us all the hassle and go to McDonald’s — this is the Real Deal, and worth waiting for! (If you come in on a Sunday during the Church Rush and complain about how long it is taking, the locals will look at you like you are from outer space…) Sit back, read the paper, draw with crayons, enjoy your coffee (and one of the daily home-baked scones, if there are any left!), and ease into small-town routine — you will feel 100% happier at the end of the meal!
