Good beer!!. Went to the new Peekskill Brewery and had great service. Our server Mai was attentive, funny and knowledgeable of all the beers . We ordered burgers and they were larger than expected. When we left we were filled and satisfied. Will definitely go back.
More Then just Beer. Peekskill BreweryWe parked in the lot across the street from the building and entered through the front door (there is also a side door), the only reason I’m bringing this up that as a newbie to this place, you have no idea what to do. You enter into the pub area but there was no one there in the downstairs level to direct you upstairs, no signs, nothing. My keen Inspector Clouseau instincts told me to go to the right, of course that was wrong, you go to the left and the elevator is there to bring you up to the second floor where the tables are. At the time we went in May 2013 there are other levels but there was tape over the buttons in the elevator. Now I realize there is parking on the left side of the building and you can walk right in the side door to the elevator. Right by the elevator you can look into the large picture window at the beer making apparatus. The second floor has a warehouse feel to it and it opens to the pub area below so it can get very noisy very quickly, there is nothing to absorb the sound. My DFT and I just went in for a quick bite and we got one, the service was fast and courteous. The menu is eclectic and not what i would call normal pub food (other then the burgers). We both ordered the Veggie Burger and it comes with fries. We both felt it was probably one of the best veggie burgers we’ve had. It was thick and had good texture and good flavor. I believe it was on a seeded bun which was soft and fresh. Fries were also pretty good. The bottled cream soda they serve is very good (I was unfamiliar with the brand). I’m not a beer drinker, so I can’t comment on the brew but I just read an article where the Peekskill Brewery was awarded the Best Craft Brew in the Hudson Valley. So the kinks this place needs to work out are some kind of guidance as you enter the front door and the noise levels. Note: they have a full bar in addition to their beer list
They should stick to bsr fare(burgers, fries, wings, etc.) Ate there on 5/17/13The service was good. The food was not. Fish fry soggy no taste what so ever same goes for the duck breast. Keilbasa was good appetizer but for $12 it would have better iflooking there wereto more thanthan 8 tinyok slices.GOURMET WANNA BES. just server bar fare.
Review. Good beer, really bad food and bad service with no understanding by the staff of what was required to provide even mediocre service or food. very disappointing. this place needs someone who knows good food and service… perhaps has even experienced it.
I wrote a very positive review of this place about a year ago and I am now withdrawing my support. In the interest of full disclosure, the restaurant has only been open at the new location for a week, but that is no excuse for our experience today. I will say that their beer retains the same high quality it has always had and the guest taps are varied and of high quality. With respect to the service, it was simply the worst I have experienced in years. I’m not even sure where to begin. 25 minutes after ordering our drinks, I had to go get the host and ask for them and when they came, they only brought 5 of the 8. Had to ask twice more for the remaining drinks. Over an hour after ordering, the kids burgers arrived, but wrong. Roughly another 25 minutes later, our food arrived, which was good. Keep in mind that there are a total of 4 entrees, all of which are sandwiches and the place was maybe 1/3 full, so not sure what could explain this level of service. 1 hour 45 minutes for lunch on a weekday. Until you see some positive reviews that the kinks in the service have been worked out, AVOID.05 Nov, 2011Excellent Food, Good Selection of Craft Beer. Dined here for the first time last evening and I was impressed with both the food and th beer. We split an order of wings, which were good, particularly the chipotle maple ones. I had the Jaegerschnitzel with braised red cabbage and spaetzle. All of this was nicely cooked and authentic enough that you could convince yourself ht you were in lower Germany or Austria. The cabbage was moist and authentically lightly sour, not over sweetened as you see it often here in the US. The pork was crisp ad moist. Crimni mushroom sauce was nicely executed and added in the ight proportion to ompliment rather than overwhelm. I has he cream ale, which was straightforward but with a hint of orange peel. The chai brown ale was a bit over spiced for my taste, but was clearly described as such. Had mother brown ale to finish the evening (forget the name, but higher alcohol), which was very nice.
It’s a great bar!!!!. This is a great upscale local bar. In the bar area it can be loud, and boisterous, but the back dining area can be toned down and private. Beer selection is great (asked for a Bud and you’ll probably be stared at) and the variety is always changing. Food is am upscale take on bar food, but portions are great. We always have a great time here with the friendly local crowd and the awesome staff.
It is a bar. If that’s what you expect, you won’t be dissapointed.. Peekskill Brewery’s food is only amazing at midnight after about six of their highest alcohol brews are making their way through my system and adding that nice glow of drunk to everything shiny. Otherwise, it’s pub grub that’s decent but sort of overpriced. However, the beer selection is great. There are a few of the brewery’s own, a handful of local brews (Captain Lawrence, etc) and a good amount of craft brews from across America. The place is overall comfortable, warm with a good beer selection.
