Nice place for a burger.. When I was at Vassar I always went to the Palace with my girlfriends for burgers. We never ordered anything else so I can’t really comment on most of the menu, but we always left satisfied and full without emptying our pockets.
Fabulous!. My boyfriend and I recently ate at The Artist’s Palate and what a treat!! The server (Melody) was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about the foods that were prepared. The owner Megan came over to our table and greeted us (which is always nice and makes the guests feel important and appreciated!) The food was superb! Everything that we ordered (lobster mac n cheese, octopus, venison, cod, chocolate ganache dessert and the pineapple upside down cake) was mouth watering. We really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant as well. It was a quiet Monday night and the weather was kind of crappy but eating at The Artist’s Palate was a warm and welcomed dining experience! As a side note, the meal came with a flatbread and a tomato pesto which was great as well as meatballs for an amuse bouche that complimented everything perfectly!
Amazing. I have eaten twice at the Artist’s Palate. Once in October, and again this January. The menu was completely different both times, which is a true sign of fresh ingredients and amazing culinary abilities. I was kind of upset, because in October I had the most amazing pasta dish of my life. Pumpkin gnnochi cooked to PERFECTION. Very al dente…not a big ball of mush most places attempt to pass off as gnocchi. This dish also contained fois gras, duck confit, and cooked seasonal fruits, which turned out to be apples and nectarines. I am fairly certain that I made a scene while eating this meal. The flavors of each component individually were AMAZING but when you had them together in one bite — I couldn’t believe it. I had my eyes closed savoring the myriad of flavors each and every bite. I don’t think I had my eyes open the whole meal! In January I had the prime rib cooked to perfection – nice and crunchy glazed outside while tender and bursting with flavor. As the must get appetizer I would recommend – the tuna martini. A artfully presented martini glass with ahi tuna, avocado, and a master blend of spices. Again, individually the dish was delicious, but together, it was a conversation stopper. I cannot wait to go back in the spring for a brand new set of amazing dishes.
Lobster Mac and Culinary Flair. Forget about that new joint up the block with a lounge, this is the BEST restaurant in Poughkeepsie and Artist’s Palate has claimed that title for several years. The restaurant’s menu, ingredients, and even artwork change frequently but the gastronomic creativity and superb lobster mac and cheese are constants of the rotational chaos. Most of my meals have over the past three years have been unique and memorable. While I like other restaurants for their consistency in producing a signature dish, Artist’s Palate offers a new challenge to my tastes with each visit. My favorite main courses were the cornmeal breaded soft shell crab with pineapple jicama slaw on my first visit four years ago or quail with white wine sauce in puff pastry last year. There are always several tempting options and I welcome the difficulty of deciding which to order.
Very nicely done modern decor wiith open kitchen. Excellent wine list. Friendly, knowledgable & efficient service. Cuisine is terrifically prepared and quite creative. Overall an excellent restaurant.
