Great local sports bar. Great selection of many micro breweries. I love the burgers, Pilgrim sandwich and the great onion soup. Many sandwiches on foccacio and the best wait staff the every funny Tim and the lovely Torie.
This place was an utter disappointment. The waitress was condescending and rude. The food was over seasoned and the vegetables overcooked. I speak fluent French, have lived abroad and have yet to be corrected on my pronunciation of words (my family is from Quebec.) yet the waitress corrected me. It was completely wrong. I will never, ever return. The food wasn’t worth it and the wait staff, though attentive, are extremely stuck up and impolite. The steak was cooked fine, but the seasoning was extremely heavy. I scraped off layer upon layer of seasoning. Clearly the chef isn’t very good. The bread and butter, however, were amazing. But that was it. How disappointing. Don’t bother.
Short and Sweet. Yes, I’ve dined here many times and it’s fantastic to say the least but in all honesty… Is there anything better than their cocktails?!?Seriously though, management, staff and cuisine are outstanding. A personal favorite and must try if you haven’t yet.
A jewel. Not to be missed. Don’t drive on by – it is a jewel. Close your eyes you’ll think you’re in Paris and fluent in French and delicious. Service – look of the space, and the food all delicious.
Mais oui! I have enjoyed one great dinner and several terrific lunches here. The escargot appetizer was perfectly done, and I sopped zee juice up with zee fresh French bread. Great wine list. The service is a bit slow but not enough to complain since the food is worth the wait. In Poughkeepsie, I would rate this as the top destination. It isn’t Paris, but, umm, you’re in Poughkeepsie, right? Vive la Brasserie!
Great Food. Place was backed up, when we arrived, but we were kept apprised of the length of time before we would be seated. I ordered the Bar Steak and Fries, I asked for it medium done and it actually arrived that way, my wife ordered the scallops and raved about them. The place is a breath of fresh air to the local Hudson Valley. Service was great, the food was great, the atmosphere was great. Give this place a try, you will not be disappointed.
Didn’t Make It. This is the first time in my memory of Poughkeepsie (over 50 years) that there have been so many upscale restaurants on Main Street. It used to be clothing and department stores primarily with only Cappola’s and Canton for dining but lately there has been a movement toward dining. Unfortunately Brasserie 292 just didn’t make it for us. The decor is interesting (basic subway station) but we would have been better off as a strap-hanger than trying to sit at the ridiculous table we were seated at. The table was small but was too large for the space it was in so that we were pushed right against the table. I had my heart set on the steak sandwich, but it was off that day replaced by some meatloaf concoction so I selected the chicken club and my partner got the croque monsieur. Both were not good. My sandwich was a bit tough and difficult to eat (kept falling apart). The french fries were good and the small side salad was also nice but could not make up for the sandwiches. The service was good, but suddently near the end of the meal a new waiter appeared and just confused things and then the first waiter reappeared. I don’t like the policy of giving you only one small piece of bread. Seems a bit cheap. It was a good attempt, but this place has a long way to go to be really first class.
