Papusas!. This is a place that sends you to another country when you walk in. I love the menu and how very different it is from other Central American food I have come across. The papusas are addictive and fun to eat. The staff is friendly and was very helpful with the menu choices. I decided on the papusas because this is a food I have heard about from Salvadorans. I had the pulled pork and it was dynamite.I loved all the knick knacks, tchotchkes, photos and such on the walls and all over the place. Most were quite appropriate to El Salvador and some were odd but hey, its there place and I liked it anyway. This place is in one of my favorite neighborhoods, Woodside in Queens. It is two and a half short blocks East of the 61st. train station on the 7 line. It is well worth a visit.
Authentic Salvadorean Food in Queens. I’ve never had pupusas before, so this was a new experience, and I was definitely very impressed. I’m not a New York local, but I’m here often visiting my girlfriend and we’re always looking for new places to have decently-priced food. We both had the pupusa combination (with cheese and crispy pork) and everything on the plate was really good. There was a lot of food for the price (about $13 a plate). It was nice to have the full authentic experience for the first time, but we might go a cheaper route next visit – like the 3 pupusas for $5, or even sharing the combination plate. The people were very friendly, and it was a nice, quiet atmosphere on a Sunday night, despite the 7 train rumbling overhead.
