I enjoyed my dinner at this new wood fire pizza place on Monroe Ave. The service was friendly, which made up for the fact the restaurant seemed a bit unorganized, likely because the place recently opened. Couple things I noticed right off the bat were the lack of seating available (few number of tables) and the lack of an actual brick oven for the pizzas (as I assumed they would have from the name of the place). Nevertheless, The food we received was very good. The Wood Fired Wings were something something special, plenty of meat in the bones with a nice char to go along with a sauce that was not too spicy. We ordered the Hawaiian pizza, which was flavorful but was topped with very little ham. Additionally, the crust was not as superb as I expect from a place that specializes in wood fired pizza. But, despite these small critiques, this place definitely deserves a revisit. I want to try a few more of their specialty pizzas (perhaps the Meat Lovers) and I would definitely order the wings again. Though I didn’t taste their pasta, it looked appealing on other tables so I may try that sometime as well in the future.
Go anywhere else for better food or service! I went with my boyfriend for dinner because we noticed it just opened and both love wood fired pizza. Although the owners did an amazing job rehabbing the interior! It isn’t enough to overcome the bad service and lack-luster food. Everything took too long (drinks, food, check), and when it did come, it was tossed on our table as our waitress quickly retreated. The pizza(s) (we got two different small ones) were unfortunately a big disappointment. Think bland, frozen pizza crust – then microwaved. I’m not sure how they managed to put pizza in a brick oven and make it come out like that, but ta-da! .. If you want good wood fired pizza, check out Napa. If you like frozen pizza that’s been microwaved, wegmans is down the street and will cost much less.
