Food is very okay. Serving sizes are inconsistent, whether lunchtime or 3:00pm. I was an early patron of the restaurant–probably went a dozen times between February and early April. My feelings changed once I started picking up on certain practices with the restaurant owner(s). After getting the same thing many times, I knew what my total would be. But one day I ordered, and sat down and ate, but after they rang me up they had charged me a dollar more for the item. When I asked why, they said they raised the item a dollar—-but the menu still said the old price. A dollar isn’t really a lot of money, but it bothered me that they didn’t change their menu price—good establishments don’t pull that kind of stuff (a 12.5% price increase) without updating their printed menu.It also bothers me how the owner (I presume) would hand out coupons for free drinks (Coke products). I won’t try to determine his selection process, but my wife (who usually went at a different time than I) got these coupons twice, and she always got the same thing I got. It also bothered me that paninis always include a side noodle dish. One Saturday, it didn’t come with mine, and there was no substitute—just a portion if the plate was emptier than usual. However, a girl comes in asking about which meatball is better, and the owner (I presume) gives her a couple for free—-this was, by the way, when their meatballs were 50% cheaper(!). I really liked the place before. So much that I introduced it to a number of my friends…but now, they’re too disconcerted by Camarella’s unpredictability, particularly its rapid price increases. I wish it the best of luck, but I have no intention of returning.
First time of many returns…. There is NOTHING I don’t love about this place. The bread for my panini was fresh and delicious, and it was packed with meat! The pasta salad is just enough to round out the meal and the fruit that comes with it is just the right finish. The mushroom/artichoke soup was solid! Very tasty with excellent texture. I’ll be back here for sure! It really is the perfect breakfast or lunch spot!
