in town for a wedding, driving around, stumbled on to this spot. boy, did we hit it out of the park. right on par with texas style brisket ive had in the past (Rudy’s in Corpus Christie). good local beer, food was out in five minutes. great experience. to top it off, the groom & i discussed it & he hasn’t been yet. think i sped that up for him. love you, dinosaur bbq.
The ribs were great, I’ll give them that, but it’s way over priced. I brought a date there and paid 60+. I’ll make ribs at home from now on.
Wow. This was as good as people made it out to be. Dishes we got include: beef brisket- very good, ribs – awesome, wings – good, shrimp – unshelled but good, fried green tomatoes- amazing, fried green tomato ultimate blt – best thing I’ve had in a freaking long time, coleslaw – good but more of a mayo base compared to other slaws, Mac and cheese – so freaking good, Cajun corn – awesome and would totally get again, mashed potatoes – mediocre fake potatoes, black beans and rice – really good, fruit – wow strawberries blueberries pineapple all impressive. Overall, this was worth the trip to Rochester. We’re all a little disappointed we can’t come back for another lunch or dinner! Only complaints were the potatoes and our server didn’t refill our water at all.
One of Rochester’s iconic restaurants! The location is good, though parking is tricky. The food is good– especially the ribs!My husband and I have been here several times with friends / colleagues and, while I can understand only seating table once everyone has arrived (given the limited space and high volume of customers), life doesn’t always work out that way. Someone may be late or not be able to come at the last minute. If that happens and you try to tell the staff that the number of people in your party has changed, watch out! In my experience, they couldn’t be bothered to hide their annoyance. Once, they were actually extremely rude, even though we were polite.Their food is really very good. If only their staff were, as well, the experience would be so much better.
I understand Dino is a very busy place, but I barely had a sip of my drink and a bite of my appetizer when our entrees came out. I felt overwhelmed and rushed. We will always eat here but I know now not to get an appetizer or a cocktail.
Go In at Lunch and Save the Wait. We arrived around 1:30pm on a Friday and it was busy. We had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. The wait could have been an hour and it would have been worth it. We ordered wings and brisket. The wings were delicious and seasoned perfectly. The brisket was some of the best I have had to date. It was tender, juicy and had great smokiness to it. I am interested in trying the Buffalo location as it is closer to home. If it is anything like the Rochester Dino, I will be going often, just for their fantastic Beef Brisket!
Great Road Food Find!. I stopped in as I drove across the country and had a fantastic lunch! The bartender was nice enough to put together a sampler plate for me consisting of brisket, pull pork, and ribs combined with mac and cheese and beans. The food was fantastic! Each meat had a good smoke flavor and they were all tender. The mac and cheese was superb! Rich and creamy. And the beans were also very good.Do yourself a favor and stop in if you’re anywhere close to Rochester. You’ll be glad you did!
