Forgetaboutit. Rocky’s on Jay Street today for lunch. Waited an hour for a plate of pasta, terrifble bread (they had run out of the good bread) sauce was nothing you can get from a jar, gnocchi’s were raw & hard, water ran out of the previously frozen ravioli’s, and they forgot the meatballs. The only thing that was any good was the meat balls. They were great! The servers were unfriendly, the loud mouth moron tossing butter at his wife was a friend of the owners so I guess that’s why there was bread for him even though he came in 1/2 hour after we did. and why it was ok that the butter container hit my 85 years old mother. If you want to know why West-siders have a reputation for being cafoons… eat at Rocky’s.
Classic Rochester. If they know you by your first name when you walk in, you’re an established part of the community. BUT things can be gruff in there, and if you want to see a menu you are probably going to have to ask for one. You also might overhear some interesting conversations by people who think they are lost characters from the Sopranos.
Amazing!. This place is to die for! Its a little hole in the wall that’s tough to find. The three little old ladies in the kitchen have been simmering sauce and stuffing raviolis since they were young. I don’t think the decor has changed since then either. They don’t need to redecorate or make themselves easier to find because they do just fine as it is. Plenty of people know where they are and keep the place packed. Depending on who your server is, you might be there for 2 hours or more. Your food comes out when its ready and its worth the wait. They have a good size sandwich menu but Ive never actually seen anyone order one. People are there for the sauce and it doesnt disappoint. Theyre open for lunch Mon- Sat and Dinner of Fridays and nothing more.
Great Tripe, great sauce. This place is an old school, hole in the wall favorite. Don’t expect much for service but the food is the real deal.
Best Italian in the ROC!. Love this place! Don’t let the looks of the outside fool you! They have the BEST homemade sauce and raviolis. Actually, everything there is great! I’m not a tripe lover, but if you are, you must try Rocky’s!The prices are great, too! Definitely make reservations and mangia, mangia!
Delizioso. Went for lunch today .. GREAT PLACE .. The server was busting his tail .. The placed was packed .. The food was inexpensive, great quality, and of course DELICIOUS! The bread alone tasted like a little slices of heaven and today they had a Tomato Salad on special .. So good .. Reminds me of my Mom’s .. Could have brought a tear to a glass eye! There is plenty of free parking all around .. However, get there early, they pack them in fast.
Jwnsam. I now live in SC and I crave Rocky’s sauce and Meatballs and Ravioli’s. Please is there anyway I can have them shipped frozen to me?My parents took me there on Friday nights and they would have Fish and of course I would have spaghetti and meatballs. That was 50 years ago.
