Always wanted to try this place. Finally, we came for lunch. The bar area is huge.Behind it is the dinning area, also a large space. My friend had the vegetarian CLT, is their version of a veggie BLT. She liked it. I had the Smoked Salmon BLT, delicious. Both sandwiches came with a side. I got potato salad.A refreshing Ale to drink..Service was very nice and prompt.

The staff was polite and knowledgable about the beers they serve. The food is average not bad just not great. If you like out of the ordinary beers, this place is for you.

Inedible food. I went with a friend last week to Tap and Mallet for dinner. We ordered the fish fry, we have had it many times before and it is always delicious. Not this time. The fish wasw soggy, the fries were burned but soggy. (How do you do that!?) and the coleslaw was inedible. I waited for the waiter to stop by and ask about our food then had to stop him. We both commented about the food tasting terrible. He went into the kitchen then returned to tell us that is the new recipe for coleslaw. No response on the other items. The waiter had NO interest in making it right. I am sorry to say- I will not be going back.

Slow service. Stopped by here a while back with a few friends, we joked we should have stopped at The Old Toad to get a drink – the service was that slow

Overpriced bar food. If you’re going to advertise gourmet bar pub food, then you better deliver. Went for lunch, one other party siting down with multiple people at the bar, but otherwise empty. We experienced terrible service and after waiting an over an hour just for a sandwich (that we never got) we had to leave. Never going back. Too expensive for such bad service.

Good beer selection. It’s a great place to have some beers and chat with friends. No TV’s so nodistractions. However the food needs improvement.

Does anyone have a flashlight?. How dark can it get and still be called ambiance? This was my first and last time going to the tap your wallet. It had a musty cave like atmosphere reminiscent to the hull of a ship. The first beer I asked for was a Budweiser bottle and, after a smug sneer from the bartender, I was informed they did not have it on their list of 50,000 undrinkable pretentious euro-trash brews.. The Cuban sandwich was akin to a salt lick and the cheese platter would have disappointed a starving sewer rat. Do not come here if you plan to catch a buzz. There is no liquor and with the 20 minutes it takes to get a drink, there will be no problem metabolizing the alcohol, so no need for a taxi home! At 6-10$ a beer the tap and mallet can bite my bird.
