Walked the lake and ate at Rick’s. I came in with my family after hearing the advertisement on the radio. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Usually you hear these ads and their pumped up. Not this time. We had a great experience, we are avid walkers, so we went around the lake across from Rick’s, (as suggested on the radio), anyway, it was beautiful. It’s very new, no dog’s allowed on the walkway, so my kid’s really loved it. Greeted nicely by the hostesses, and had a waitress that was informative with the menu. She said she liked the vegetarian eggplant lasagna, so my wife ordered it. Wow, it was huge and so tasty. I ordered the BBQ. ribs and chicken and they were really tender and the sauce was perfect. Not too sweet, perfect with the hot corn bread. The music was a little loud for me, but my wife said she liked it. My kids had way too much food for a kids meal, but the price was great, I think 6.00 bucks with drinks and desserts. Anyway, my family and I were thrilled with Rick’s.

Sublime crabmeat stuffing. Last weekend we were invited to a private party at Rick’s Club American. We had a great time and the food was fabulous. One of the dishes was stuffed sole with crabmeat.WOW! I am a sort of afficianado with sole and it was one of the best I’ve tasted- Including N..Y.C.The room was beautifully decorated with fresh cut flowers from the (I asked) owners garden. I thought that was a nice touch. The kids were given a basket of toys to play with and that kept them reasonably happy.I was so impressed with Rick’s that I wanted to share it with other people. My first time doing this 🙂

Beyond BBQ. Found Ricks Club American years ago in search of a place to eat before sending friends home on 287. That was almost 10 years ago…..The lunch salad still resonates in my mind and the BBQ platter was delectable. So return trips have been a part of my culinary adventures since. There have been the everyday nites with spectacular meals….the special family events when we were treated like royalty (not to mention great food served efficiently and professionally). And the best kept secret is the chef in the kitchen…. Dayo… who has trained under and worked for some of the best chefs in NYC and the metropolitan area. His pedigree is impressive and he carries that experience to the specials which appear on the handout separate from the menu. His gourmet offerings will rival any top end restaurant in NYC.And he shines with pride during the 8 course wine tasting extravaganzas,…so while Rick’s Club American appears as a humble town BBQ joint(Congers answers to Cheers) with great food and great company, under its roof resides a spectacular gourmet experience at surprisingly affordable prices.

Ribs. Rustic atmosphere and super ribs, among other things.

Love the place. My friends and I had a blind taste test for the best BBQ in the Rockland area. I’m happy to say Rick’ Club won hands down. Each couple brought in food from there favorite place, then they were put onto separate dishes. I couldn’t believe it. Rick’s won 5 out of our 6 categories. Well, I knew it, but sometimes you have to prove it anyway. I asked how long they have been there and it turns out they are going on 30 years. That alone is impressive. I love the old building with all the wood walls. Pretty cool, very New York City…..

The tables are sticky – ewww. OK, so it must have been a good place at some point. The food is great…..but the place is dirty, sticky, as if the tables have never been really cleaned. For me, a NYC girl…it is dirty, loud, the acoustics are bad, the lighting is awful! If all you are looking for is a place to drink – then go for it.
