The BEST Authentic Sushi with a touch of local art. Hands down, this is my favorite restaurant to come home to whenever I crave grilled eel, avocado, salmon, and shrimp tempura sushi. The service is friendly and the owner, Mari, is the sweetest Japanese mother who sometimes compliments birthday parties with her son’s live viola performance right by your table. It’s small and looks blank on the outside, but the inside is colorful with seasonal flowers and filled with local artist’s work. Mari’s is a must go, especially for those who love authentic Japanese cuisine.

Mari’s has the most authentic menu of sushi and Japanese entrees in schenectady. I have been going for 10 years and have never been disappointed.

Great sushi!. I went to Mari’s for the first time on a Friday night in a snowstorm and the place was still pretty full. Our waitress was very attentive. You have to try the wasabi shumai, they’re fantastically spicy! They use real wasabi, and it is *potent.* I used about half as much wasabi as I do when I get the bright green stuff at other places. Our sushi came quickly, and it was as good as places I’ve been to on Long Island. The spicy tuna was a lot spicier than others I’ve had in the past, and the eel was cooked just right. Mari herself came around to each table to say hi and thanks for coming. The prices were good, the food was better. I’ll definitely be back.
