Having been here once before for a private grand opening event, today brought the opportunity to return and see if all was running smoothly. For a Saturday evening, about 6:30, it didnt seem very busy with about 3 other parties. But by the time we left, most of the tables were full, even though the bar was empty. The metal stools at the high-tops and the bar are not going to encourage you to linger. The metal chairs at the lower two-tops are a little better since they have some back support. But if we plan on returning, maybe we need to bring our stadium seat cushions. There is a nice list of craft draft beers so we started with a Mikkeller Henry Hops IPA ($7/12 oz.) and a Troegs Java Head Stout ($7/12 oz.). Both were very good. My wife ordered a Chopped Side Salad ($5) to go with her two sliders (dirty duo, $9). The salad was a fresh mix of arugula, tomato, cucumber, avocado, blue cheese, red onion, corn, black beans, jalapeo, and red pepper with a balsamic vinaigrette. Now thats a lot of ingredients for a salad, right? Yes it is. And it was tasty in addition to filling. But she did manage to still finish her Dirty Duo of Yankee and Soprano sliders. One of the beef patties was cooked well past medium-rare, but the other was right on. The Yankee toppings were sauerkraut, corned beef, provolone, fried onion, and the house slider sauce. The Soprano toppings consisted of prosciutto, provolone, arugula, fried tomato, red onion, pesto and a balsamic reduction. Both sliders had plenty of flavor and the brioche rolls were soft and fresh. My Dirty Trio of sliders ($12) were the Old Faithful, the Hangover, and the Dirty Pig. The Pig is pulled pork that has been braised in Nine Pin Cider and topped with BBQ sauce, coleslaw, and fried onion. It was a very flavorful pulled pork and while the coleslaw provided a nice crunch, the fried onions stayed crispy. I chose beef over chicken for both the Hangover and the Old Faithful, and each patty was a nice medium-rare with a crunchy outer crust. The Hangover is a very slippery burger to eat with a fried egg, arugula, cheddar, bacon, and a chipotle cream sauce. Very nice flavors though. The Old Faithful is topped with cheddar, arugula, red onion, tomato, pickles, and the house slider sauce. Again, flavorful. Its obvious that a lot of the flavors come from the toppings, and it seems that many of the toppings are simply combined in different variations for the variety that is offered. An alternative to this fact could be accomplished by ordering chicken instead of beef in some of your sliders, or consider trying one of the four seafood sliders made with either shrimp, scallops or crab cake.In any event, variety is the spice of life and youll find both variety and spice here. Service was friendly and prompt.
