Its taken me awhile to get here because I hadnt been able to convince my wife to go along with me. Today, however, all the stars aligned and I arrived at lunch time. No other customers were there when I arrived. My first impression was that these folks keep a very neat and clean place. A friendly fellow greeted me. I explained that Id never been there before and didnt know what I should try first. He directed my attention to the daily specials board and said, the regular menu will be there every day, but you dont know when you might have another chance at whats on that board. With that, I saw that the specials of the day were categorized into Meat, Side Dish and Dessert. The Meat offering was your choice of a beef, chicken, or pork BBQ Sandwich, topped with French Fries and a Cheese Sauce ($8.99). Deciding on the pulled pork, I figured this would be a decent test for my first encounter. They also sell bottled water, juice, and sodas.Should you decide to eat-in, there are three picnic tables with benches and a few chairs at the ends of those tables. Brightly colored, striped table cloths, stand out from the Princely purple walls. Absolutely wonderful blues emanate from the speakers overhead. The tables are set with squeeze bottles of a variety of sauces including, Carolina, White, Sweet, BBQ Hot, and House, in addition to catsup and mustard. Vertical paper towel holders are also within easy reach for those who are not into licking their fingers. My BBQ pork sandwich looked impressive with a poppy seed roll that was super fresh, and a high pile of freshly cut fries and cheese sauce over the pulled pork. I attacked the fallen fries first with a fork. They were quite good, both with and without the cheese sauce. I then decided it would be best to cut the sandwich in half in case I needed to ask for a human-bag. The flavors all blended so well together. Looking at the pork, you could see some bits of bark and red. The flavor and smokiness were perfect for my preference. There was no way the second half was going to make it out the door. I tasted a little bit of each of their sauces on different bites of the sandwich and tried to decide which sauce was my favorite. Even after going through a second round of tasting the sauces, I wasnt sure I could decide. They all were really good maaaaybe the Carolina.Theres no doubt that I need to return to try some of the regular items on their menu. While my wife might be willing to come along now in the future after seeing how clean the place looks in my pictures, theres always the option of my monthly lunchtime trips to Proctors while she is working.
