I can’t believe it took me so long to hear about 317. It’s the best kept secret in Syracuse. Their bar is fantastic, their wine selection is great. I love that it’s a small menu because the chef perfected everything!! Not only is the food outstanding, it’s inventive and different in such a good way! Atmosphere is relaxing and the decor is gorgeous. Our bartender was awesome….. Absolutely adore this place!!!

Awful service and atitude. We had a terrible experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice and we were fine that our table was not ready when we arrived. We were asked to wait at the bar and order a drink but we were ignored. Then we were asked to wait at a different table and have a drink until our table was ready but still ignored for our drink order. Once we were seated at our table and ordered, the appetizers and salads were great but entrees were a nightmare. Everything was brought out wrong and cold. The steak was brought out rare when we asked for well done. When we asked the owner what the delay was because we had been waiting quit a while for the steak he told us we were rude. We have never had this experience in a restaurant before. The other owner compted our bill. We found the experience at 317 a dark spot while visiting our son at parent weekend at Syracuse University. The owner should be ashamed or himself.

One of our favorites. Now called 317, the restaurant was recently redecorated – very simple and elegant. Chance Bear is an imaginative chef and the staff are welcoming. A good place for quiet conversation over dinner.

A Fabulous Business Lunch. I had clients flying in for a meeting over lunch and had to pick a venue that could not only accommodate a prolonged stay but also our various appetites (one vegetarian, one gluten-free, one just conscientious) — that decision was easily made by choosing Parisa. Two of us had one of the day’s specials, a gently sauteed (but still so moist and butter-tender) large piece of salmon over a green salad, and another had a sandwich. The portions were considerable and could stand up to my healthy appetite, but the real treat was in the preparation: everything so perfectly seasoned and presented. We couldn’t have been happier. The staff was warm and friendly; they didn’t hover but were attentive (and did not mind that we were the last to leave the lunch seating). Impressive all the way around! Also, for an appetizer, you must try their beet chips — thin slices of fresh beet quickly fried to a crisp with a light dusting of salt. A sweet, salty, crunchy starter that is truly first rate.

Disappointing!. Working downtown every day, my friends and I are always on the lookout for a good place for lunch. Having read that Parisa had a new chef, we decided to give it another try. I ordered one of the day’s specials, beef tips cooked in wine served over mashed potatoes. The potatoes were great, but the meat was way over salted. The degree of over salting was to the point that had I done this at home, I would have scrapped the dish and taken the family out. The folks at Parisa were quick to offer me a different lunch, but seemed to resist admitting that the dish was ruined. I asked my waiter if the chef had tasted the meat and if they would be continuing to serve that special. There was no word on the chef’s tasting and they did continue to serve the the salty dish. Anyone can make a mistake, but presenting an obvious mistake to the public suggests a problem.

Great food! It is on the fairly pricey side, but the food made it worthwhile! We loved our table by the window looking out on Montgomery, it served to enhance the relaxing atmosphere. One of the owners (and chef) personally checked on us. We recommend trying Parisa, we believe you will enjoy it too!
