Great place for the lunch-hour and business meetings. I am not a private university student like many kids who might submit a review of this place. We all were young once and full of grand ideas and opinions, both supportive and critical. That said, I will not argue with people who think AppeThaizing is not Thai enough or people who think it is God’s gift to the West. They are entitled to their opinions. Here’s mine. ; )Having eaten Thai food regularly off-and-on for 20-years, I would say AppeThaizing is better than your take-out style restaurant. They aren’t trying to be some kind of P.F. Chang’s. It is simple, straight-forward, and yet somewhat classy dining that seems to appeal to young professionals, whom I often saw sneaking down there on their lunch hour or for business meetings. I say go for lunch, as you’ll save a few bucks and there isn’t much difference in the menu.Service is friendly and relaxed. The place is clean and mellow. Customers usually seem to be wrapped up in their conversations and meals, not looking anxiously for their waiter or scowling at what they just tasted.Appetizers were a little pricey, but always worthwhile and rarely overlooked when I stopped in. The main dishes were reasonably priced. I ordered the same thing every time and it was fantastic every time – brown noodles with tofu and vegetables. I’m not a vegetarian, it was just that good. Sometimes washed it down with a Thai Iced Tea, which was as good as any other Thai restaurant I’ve tried (it’s a pretty hard thing to muck up).Brought a couple of friends down here and they were pleased as well, although they agreed my dish was the best at the table. If you have the chance, check out their other location in Liverpool, which has the same menu and a gorgeous interior that the SU location lacks. However, even the basement hide-away on South Crouse Avenue has its charm. It earns a big thumbs-up simply for the good memories and great flavor.

Tasty food, awful service. I’m beginning to feel paranoid 🙂 My past several dining experiences have invariably come with poor service. Today’s fiasco included: the check being brought before the server asked if we would like coffee or dessert (which we did); serving the coffee in a mug with a BIG chip on the rim (really, it was a crater); and never stopping back to refill the coffee. Everything took a looooong time. When we arrived there were only 3 other tables seated, so service should have been prompt. But we waited for our entrees: a salad and the tilapia special. We waited for dessert and coffee. My friend’s plate was never cleared from the table. I asked for a doggie bag for my left over entree and then the left over dessert. I then needed to ask for a bag for my take out. Speaking of dessert . . . . the dessert menu offered (if I remember correctly) 6 selections – 3 of which they no longer serve. If these service faux pas don’t offend you, then the food is good if a bit on the pricey side for Thai.

Overpriced and not worth it. Overpriced and under achieving, I’ll pass every time in favor of Bangkok or Erawan or Basil House, or pretty much any other Thai place in the area. Too bad for me cause their new gig is right around the corner from my abode.

Lemon Grass has a competitor. Tired of the high prices at Lemon Grass – and LG being the only good Thai in town? Give Appethaizing a try! Prices are much more in line with average Syracuse pocket books. Prig Pow is extremely flavorful. For those living in the northern reaches of syracuse – bring new location on Rt. 57.

Nice place, food not so good. Two of us went there for lunch today, there were four other tables. the place looks nice. we ordered coconut shrimp and chicken satay and tom yum soup to start. the coconut shrimp was very dark, looks like it was cooked in old oil and tasted a bitter from the dark breading. the chicken satay was cook but cold to the touch, Tom yum coup was the only thing that was decent.. we order pad thai and pad kee mow as entree. the pad thai was okay but the pad kee mow wasn’t, it was sweet, (it suppose to be a little spicy). over all the wait staff was nice, place looks nice but the quality of the food was not good enough for the price we pay for

UnappeThaizing. This is the most disgusting, inauthentic Thai food I’ve ever had!I ordered Tom Kha, and it was nothing but overly sweet coconut milk with a few pathetic little mushrooms floating in it. The Golden Noodle dish I got was supposed to be steamed egg noodles, but what I got was clearly ramen (unless egg noodles have gotten thinner). It was bland, with no spice at all. Plus, the tofu was coated in something that made it taste like cake batter for some reason. I suggest you look elsewhere for Thai.
