We just returned from the worst meal. We will never return to this restaurant. There were several services issues and mediocre food during drinks, appetizers and salads that took an hour and 15 minutes. We waited 45 minutes after our salads were cleared with no visits by our waitress or other staff and no main course. We watched at least 5 tables who had arrived and ordered well after us receive and eat their food. We finally had to track our waitress down as she finished checking on another table to ask about the status of our meals. She attributed the delay to a large group in an upstairs room. We indicated that the explanation did not account for others who arrived well after us receiving their food and noted that our order must have been misplaced. We asked when we could expect our food and were assured it was being cooked right then. Shortly after that the waitress apparently went to talk to the manager because she came back and said he had offered a round of drinks, which we declined since we already had drinks and were 2 hours into the meal. Over the next 20 minutes, the food came out one plate at a time every 5 minutes. Three of the four meals were undercooked. The chicken riggies were undercooked and apparently the pasta wasn’t drained because the sauce was completely watery and had slopped over the rim of the bowl while it was being carried to the table. The eggplant was raw and the portion was tiny. A cold side of spaghetti (instead of the riggies that were ordered) showed up 5 minutes after the main plate. The lobster ravioli was undercooked, lukewarm and a small portion. I barely touched my riggies because they were so bad. The waitress asked if I wanted a box and I said no thanks and that the food was not good. She apologized. We asked for the check and received a check for the full amount on all items. We never received a visit from the manager who was on or from the owner. We explained nicely to the waitress that she had been left out to dry, that the problems were in part due to others, and that the manager or owner should have made a visit to the table. We have been out to dinner many hundreds of times and the vast majority of the time the service and food is good to excellent. The relatively rare times that there are problems at other restaurants, they have been handle so much better than at Asti’s. This meal wins hands down the distinction of being the worst meal we have ever had both in terms of service and food.

We called on valentines day (thursday) for a saturday evening reservation, party of 4. friday we called and asked if we could reserve a booth in the same name which was accepted. another member of the party called for verification of reservations on friday evening. saturday evening we arrived at the designated time to no reservations and waited for a booth in the bar area, we were given valentines day menus which in my mind is outright price gouging, where if i knew that was the case we would have avoided this situation entirely. the service was terrible, the food was diner, and the price was ridicoulous, good luck, asti’s!

They were very brusquely told that there would be at least a 2 hour wait for a table and when my daughter asked if it would be possible to use the gift certificate they planned to use for dinner for takeout, the hostess vehemently told them no. After reading other reviews here, poor customer service is apparently the M.O. of Asti Cafe. You can be sure that I will never recommend this terrible place to anyone!!!
What part was worse?. I’m kicking myself because not long after being seated at Asti, I thought about leaving and going to a very good Italian restaurant that is only about a block away. But I didn’t…The service was awkward, poor, and confused. This is normally something I could look past, if my food had been any good. My boyfriend and I were both served what was clearly some less-than-fresh chicken (to judge by its silly-putty like texture), and his chicken piccata tasted like Trix cereal. By the time we finally got our bill (30 minutes after we asked for it, and long after a nice buzz that made the situation amusing had worn off), I could not restrain the face I made at how much we were going to pay for such disappointment.
Love this place. The pasta and the filet mignon are delicious. In fact never has a bad meal or bad service.
Going In. This is a favorite of mine for a long time and now is a favorite of my husband and two boys both under 10. We love the food and atmosphere. Great for lunch and dinner!
