Hot Ham Sandwich for lunch was awesom. Had thousand island dressing, braised red cabbage, bacin and melted swiss on tye bread. Cist was only $8.95 and it was huge
Pleasant Surprise. Generally have low expectations close to a college. Kids spam the U’Spoon with positives with the same me-too attitude they elect their 3rd grade president. But I digress. This place had good food reasonably priced. We kept it simple to soups and sandwiches but all around, the food was very satisfying. Soups were well seasoned and tasted fresh. This is a definite when in the area.
Wait staff/ food both lacking. Had heard a lot of positives about Phoebe’s so we decided to try it. There during a home SU basketball game. Just a few tables were occupied so there is no way our waitress was overwhelmed. However, she was not very helpful, attentive or knowledgeable. Soup of the day was not very warm; flatbread was very, very dry; other food was cold. Wine glass was dirty but waitress was not around to ask for a new one. Overall it was a lackluster dining experience and considering prices we won’t be back.
Decadent serenity. Phoebe’s is definately a satisfyingly unique and wonderful place that is a little hard to put into words. A warmth (if there’s mountains of snow, not unusual) – not from the fireplace only, but from the peaceful, relaxing, and KEY WORD: adaptability ;Upscale, if you want – gorgeous, large, but not cavernous, dining room, with smaller home like rooms in other areas. Many times I’ve had one of the duck dishes – even, standby ala Orange – succulent and just crispy enough. Chicken dishes, or homey pot pie. Casual, if you prefer, for a great burger and soup at the bar for lunch or whenever, or perhaps a latte while reading a book or laptop working, and great for meeting friends late night for drinks/pub-like atmosphere on the enclosed patio (s). Scrumptious desserts too. You’ve heard of sipping wine while watching a sunset or gazing at ocean waves, but a strangely serene and wonderful activity is sitting at Phoebe’s during a blizzard (or to them – just snow) and watching nature out the window, while feeling safe, dry and warm, comfortable, and welcome at Phoebe’s. A home away from home.
Unique atmosphere, surprisingly off-beat but delicious menu. Good service. We’ll be back.
Fancy dinner, easy price. Just went there for the first time and everything was great. I got the tuscan white bean soup and was impressed that they used dried beans instead of canned, which makes a big difference in texture and flavor. For dinner I got a nice pork shank. I get primal satisfaction from meat on a bone. For dessert we split a creme brulee and again it was great.
Very nice place. It has a warm and cozy atmosphere. Chicken was very tender and Dijon garlic sauce tasted great on potatos. Bar tender was friendly.
