  Best wings in Upstate NY. I have been coming to Shifty’s since the late 80’s looking for a great wing place after Galuppi’s in downtown closed and the owner moved to Florida…no doubt to die of diabetes as he weighed close to 500 lbs. I had been going to Alki’s Acropolis for my wing fix and a friend recommended I try Shifty’s. What was weird is a few years earlier, I had starred in a Syracuse University film student’s Senior film thesis and a few scenes had been shot a Shifty’s. I didn’t know at the time, but the best wing sauce was within a few feet of me!Anyway, after that long winded backstory, boy was my friend ever right…THE best sauce I have found yet on the planet. Wings are meaty and cooked perfectly crisp! The wings are served wet, versus Galuppi’s that were sauced and then put into a pizza oven to serve dry. I was never disappointed with Shifty’s wings and as a joke, I always tried to get the recipe out of the chef in the kitchen…he told me that it was a recipe he had gotten from a place in Buffalo and that he had paid $1000 for it!So, fast forward a few years later, I joined the Navy in 1993 and moved away and on a recent trip across the country, I stopped in and told the waitress about the story of always trying to get the recipe out of the chef and guess what…she went back into the kitchen and wrote all the ingredients down!!!! Now I have the best wing sauce in the country!!! WOOO HOOO!So, go try Shifty’s if your in town and say hi to the waitress for me!
