You have to try this place!. After reading NomNom’s review, I had to wonder if they were writing about the same Soup R Salad I frequent. My husband and I have been having lunch there from the time it opened- in fact, my husband eats there every day. We have had lunches catered by them to our office. We have had special occasion cakes made by them. It is without question, a wonderful place to have a delicious, healthy, fresh, reasonably priced lunch with interesting and innovative salads, sandwiches and hot meal specials. The variety is amazing considering it is not a huge place. The owner and staff, Sherry, Nicole and Sam are consistently the nicest, friendliest , and most generous people. They have engendered a very loyal following because of this and also because they offer something different than your typical downtown lunch place. Hopefully, we will be eating here for many, many years to come!

Something special. I have ate here and everything was fresh! Also it is priced right! On top of that it tasted great and was enough to fill me up! This is a really nice place to eat for lunch and the way they treat you should be a plus! The staff is friendly, the food is tasty and the price is right!

What a shame. The review written by NOM could not be further from the truth. I have been a customer since Sherry , Nicole and Sam started this great restaurant.. They have consistently served very well prepared fresh short order foods. The large selection of salads, which are prepared daily, is something not available else where in downtown Syracuse. The entire menu is modestly and fairly priced. The sevice is excellent and friendly- where else can you go for lunch in downtown and be greated by name, served fresh made healthy food for less than $8 and be back in your office in 30 minutes. I and manny others will continue to be a regular customer.

Update. I hate to see places decline and always feel bad writing an updated review about that decline, but I feel like part of the purpose of this site is to give honest feedback – with the understanding, of course, that all reviews are subjective. The quality and variety of the food seemed to decline sharply starting the summer. Frequently, staff seemed unprepared for the lunch rush which caused delay – something that is hard to swallow when most patrons are on a tight schedule for lunch. The food that was once innovative and fresh slowly became relatively unremarkable, while prices subtly and suddenly increased. To be clear, the food is still OK, but it became much more pedestrian and unoriginal as time went on. Lastly, constantly observing the staff smoking next to the entrance while wearing their chef’s uniforms became a real turn off. As a former smoker who understands the power of the addiction, I appreciate the need for the break. However, there is something disconcerting about seeing at least one, if not all, employees/owners out front smoking when walking by. I thought I might be nitpicking, but I ran this by a couple of patrons who agreed that it was a real turn off. I do hope things turn around and they do well. This restaurant was initially a great new spot.02 Jun, 2012New place. Great new lunch spot downtown…the last couple of places that occupied this spot flopped very quickly, but I doubt that will happen to this place. The soups are obviously homemade and are incredibly tasty, sandwiches are made with fresh deli meat (instead of something that has sat in the cooler for weeks like most places), and the salads are innovative and awesome. We’ve made this a regular stop for lunch downtown.

Good food and clean. I have tried this place several times now for soup and sandwiches. After the bagel shop closed downtown, it’s been hard to find a clean sandwich place with good food. The food seved here has been consistently good. The folks behind the counter are friendly, neat and professional. The prices are quite reasonable. Still can’t find tuna or chicken salad sandwiches as good as the bagel shop, but this place does a good job.
