We simply stopped in a little after 5 PM on a Saturday for a holiday drink. No one else was at the bar and the dining room had one table with a party of 4. There also were signs on most every door asking to pardon any inconvenience while the restaurant was being refurbished. Other than a one inch change in floor height that was temporarily carpeted over as you entered the restaurant from the reception area, everything looked perfectly in place and clean. My wife ordered a Barrique Cabernet Sauvignon ($12) which she enjoyed. I like Cabs also and thought it was good because it was not too dry. I had to consider a draft on the menu called Boulder Chocolate Shake. Our bartender was kind enough to allow me to have a sample before I decided. It actually is a Shake Chocolate Porter from Boulder Brewing ($4, 5.9% abv). Its not a beer that you might drink all night, but it was perfect for this casual stop. It had a nice chocolate overtone without being overly sweet. On our receipt I saw that Happy Hour is from 3-7PM with no designation of days. I dont know if we were given happy hour prices since the wine was on the menu for the price we were charged and there were no prices on the menu for beer. But in any event, $4 for a craft beer is certainly a very reasonable price. There were some interesting apps (Lobster Tacos; Grilled Lamb Lollipops, Greens & Beans), entrees (Mac & Cheese Stuffed Lobster, Pappardelle) and flatbreads on the menu so well have to stop back sometime when we are hungry to check out the food. A band was bringing in their equipment as we were leaving.
Great happy hours. A nice place to come after work for a drink. The bartenders are friendly, there are usually drink specials like five dollar wine, and the bar appetizers like the flatbread pizza are yummy. It is perfect location-wise for anyone going to Schenectady, north to Saratoga or Clifton Park or anywhere off the northway at all. Dinners are nice and the burgers are great. There is a little room that seats about ten people that they will let you eat dinner in if you want a private dinner/meeting. It is also a great place to meet if you have people in from out of town and they are staying at the Indigo or any of the local hotels. We have a professional organization that meets there once a month for happy hour and every once in a while we poll the members and ask them if they would like to move the happy hour around and the answer is always negative. Excellent – good food, menu variety, and staff. Their small plates and half entrees are a perfect dinner with salad. The scallops are a must as is the ribeye and the mac and cheese. Located in a good small hotel it is a business translate oasis.
