I know next to nothing about Philly cheese steak sandwiches. I did have one once about 20 years ago while in Philly, but all I remember was that it was a roll with some meat and cheese. Now Ive heard enough people talk about these sandwiches to realize that the meat is likely thin sliced beef. And Ive also heard that some of the best (most authentic?) Philly cheese steak sandwiches can be found locally at the Philly Bar & Grill in Latham. So I finally made the effort to go there and try one.It turns out that the menu here has a whole page devoted totally to ordering a Philly Steak Sandwich ($8.99). Three steps are outlined along with an explanation of the Philly lingo. Step 1 is to choose beef or chicken. Step 2 is to combine any three of the twenty-two complimentary toppings listed (there are also ten premium toppings for an additional $1.50 each). Step 3 is to choose among the seven cheeses offered. And as for that Philly lingo? Well, Wiz Wit and Wiz Witout translate to with or without onions.Im so confused at this point and all I want is to try a typical, original style Philly cheese steak sandwich. So I figure the best thing to do is to simply ask our friendly waitress whats in a basic sandwich? Well, she says that the customers all have their individual favorites with any combination of stuff from the menu. So now I try asking, Whats your favorite? To which she replies wait for it Ive never had one!Feeling abandoned, I took my lead from the fact that Ive never heard of anyone having chicken in one of these sandwiches, and the word steak is synonymous with beef in my world. From there I took the hint from the Philly lingo and added cheese wiz wit and personalized my other two toppings as hot banana peppers and mushrooms. It no longer matters to me whether this was a typical Philly cheese steak. The shaved rib-eye was tender and flavorful. The hoagie roll was fresh and lightly toasted. The combination of my toppings were plentiful and although upon first sight I thought Id be bringing half the sandwich home, it was so good I just had to finish it.BTW, my wife had the Mushroom, Onion & Swiss Burger ($8.99), opting for the Seasoned Fries ($.99). The Angus burger was cooked as ordered and good. The fries were nothing special. We washed our food down with pint drafts of Fat Tire ($5) and Flower Power ($5.50).This is truly a Sports Bar with TVs scattered all around the bar and dining area. If you go on a Sunday, expect the TVs to be turned up loud and the customer/fans constantly cheering.

Terrible Service. Called for delivery. Waited 10 minutes while whomever put me on hold and talked to someone else, she then hung up. I called back, asked for mgr(not given) and told it was the credit card machine that hung up(outright lie). Place has went down hill real fast lately, so my advice is to avoid at all cost. Make your lunch at home cause this place isn’t woth the time anymore. Mind you we order frequently since we are on rt.9 but i guess losing our business is worth the bad employees
