TALA has been around for over two years now and we still hadnt been there, in spite of some very nice reviews by others. We werent in the mood for a heavy meal since it was already approaching 9 PM, and their menu looked like it might be able to satisfy our need and also offer the opportunity to try some different dishes. We started with a couple of draft beers ($5 each) that were served in pilsner style glasses that were probably slightly less than pint size. I had a Saratoga Pilsner and I dont recall now what the Guest Tap was that my wife had.We then shared the Kale and Quinoa salad ($9) and the Edamame Dumplings ($13). Both were very flavorful and enjoyable. The roasted orange and pumpkin seed oil dressing was especially tasty on the salad. The white truffle, shiitake broth, and scallions might have been better served in a ramekin for dipping instead of at the bottom of the dumpling plate.Their pizza can be served either as a flat bread or as the thicker Neapolitan ($2 up-charge) style. Since they are not huge pizzas we decided to order one of the Neapolitan versions with the predetermined toppings of prosciutto, arugula, ricotta, San Marzano tomatoes, and basil ($16). This was delicious. The dough had a thin, browned bottom, and had an edge crust that had good flavor and a softness that invited you to eat all of the slice. We took two or three slices home and enjoyed them cold the next day.Our service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is very modern and cool looking, reminding us of some places where weve dined out of the country. They have a rather unique looking, sound absorbing, ceiling installation. I dont know how effective it is because there were not too many people there while we dined. But there was a large party of maybe 8 or more at the opposite end of the restaurant and we were totally oblivious to them while we enjoyed our meal so maybe it really works.

Went to the restaurant on this past Valentine’s Day. Staff was very friendly. Seating was a little too close…wife and I couldn’t help but hear the couples conversation next to us which in and of itself would make you not enjoy your meal. We ordered the strip steak and filet mignon. The strip steak was a poor cut of meat (tough and very fatty) however the sauce was quite good. The filet was tough as well and lemon mash potatoes were devoid of any flavor. For the price of these two entres ($35 &$38) we expected more.We only get out to dinner a few times a year so we were very disappointed.

Cavatelli vs Tagliatelle. Went to Tala’s last night with two other couples. My Wedge Salad was enjoyable in fact superb. However when my main dish arrived I it was not the meal I had ordered. The server presented the dish and proceeded to mix the paste and poached egg which is something that I did not order. I had ordered Cavatelli not Tagliatelle. The noise level in the restaurant was high, that was the reason why I had pointed out to the server what I wanted as a meal. After sitting there and everyone at the table were eating I decided to try the meal, the bitterness of the broccoli Rab and the taste of the sausage. I definitely could not eat the pasta dish. A person came over to our table and offered another meal. However, at that point I had lost my appetite. The meal cost was taken off our bill but the sole purpose of going out to eat was to have a meal you enjoyed and not go home hungry. I am planning to give this restaurant another try but go home not hungry. I usually am not a difficult customer but the combination of the noise, mix up of the meal I will have to think a while before returning.

Really very disappointing. This restaurant is not sure what it wants to be. Is it a fine dining restaurant or a high end bar? The problem is that the prices say fine dining but the execution does not match. All four of the entrees in our party were overcooked and dry. The only dish I can recommend is the calamari which was very good. The scallops were over salty and dry, the shrimp was probably cooked well but then sat under a heat lamp too long and the lobster pasta was dry and tasteless. Even dessert was bad. All in all avoid this place, the Mazzone brand should be embarrassed.

This place is great! I have been coming here at least monthly since posting my first review and my food has always been right on. My fave dish is the Cedar Baked Salmon and my other half loves the Grilled Prime NY Strip Steak. Also the Tala Chop Salad and Tala Ice Cream Sundae are delish. Personally this is my fave Mazzone establishment.17 Oct, 2013I really liked this place! I sat outside and the outdoor dining in mid-Sept (I dined here on 9/20/13) was awesome! I would go back but definitely at a time when it is comfortable to sit outside. I had the tala chop salad and the cedar baked cedar baked salmon – the salmon had brown sugar glaze – both the salad & my entre were delicious! The food quality met the standard I expect at a Mazzone establishment and everything was great. It was pricey, our bill for two was about 140 but that includes a bottle of wine, 2 salads, & 2 entrees. I look forward to going back!!!

Pretentious, crowded space with sparse menu offering mediocre dishes. Very expensive and not worthy
