Over-rated + Over-hyped. This place is a joke. Seriously. I have not been so angry leaving a place in some time. The service was terrible, the food was bland and it’s overpriced. I simply don’t get it. Don’t bother, unless you have 2-hours to wait, and have to continually ask for everything that should be automatic when you go to a restaurant. Go to Harvest on Hudson, Comfort, or Buffet de la Gare if you’re looking for a great place in Hastings.

Could be great but …….. Inconsistent. Some dishes were delicious (like the duck and hanger steak) but the brisket burger was dry and charred. Biggest problem was the slow and inattentive service. They desperately need a busboy. Otherwise, the place is charming. Probably worth a second chance.

Great experience. Juniper started out with breakfast and lunch. Lately they are also open for dinner. I went there once for cafe and once for lunch. In both cases a great experience. Soup was excellent with a strong country bread on the side. (Tell the waiter if you don’t want your bread with charred edges.) Can’t wait to try dinner there.

Ok, disappointing. We had been recommended to Juniper, and all I can think is that the restaurant was having an off night because it definitely wasn’t the place recommended to us. We waited 20 min after our reservation time to be seated. Most of the food was very good though a few dishes didn’t quite work and most things (including the soup) were served lukewarm. Most surprising was the inattentive service: empty plates sat on the table for 20 min and more while staff sat chatting and reading at the bar, and no one throughout the entire meal asked us how we were doing.

New restaurant. I went to Juniper last Friday night and was pleasantly surprised by how exquisite the food was. This is a quaint BYOB restaurant in the sleep town of Hastings and there is a wine store conveniently across the street. The menu isn’t incredibly large but I had a fresh garden salad to start and then had pork chops for my entree which were incredible. They were slightly sweet and served with wild mushrooms, carrots and a polenta that was the absolute perfect texture. I was to full for dessert but I had a bite of my friends burger which was very tasty as well. The only downside was that they were very slow and if you had a time constraint that would not have gone well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to someone looking for a quiet, relaxed night out and is not in any rush.
